Should there be a forced rematch Glenn Johnson vs Chad Dawson

I want to see a rematch but it shouldn't be forced. Johnson was never a WBC mandatory, because Chad just gave him the opportunity because he wanted to get the big names to fight him, and Johnson stepped up.

The first fight was excellent why would anyone not want to see a rematch? in any case there are very few better fighters in the division. Johnson should fight for the WBC belt and then if he wins that fight Dawson again, I had that fight a draw by the way.

Think about it, Dawson is getting better while Johnson is ageing. Pointless fight, Dawson is wasting valuable time. Wait... what valuable time? He's young, and there are like 2 decent fighters in the division... he doesn't need to get into urgent mode to start fighting all the top level fighters, because there just aren't very many at LHW.

So what??..people have agendas around here..especially when it comes to Calzhage. Joe didn't do SHIT but slap at the air like Catwoman. If Johnson deserves a rematch then so does Hopkins. Yeah, dude, we are all out to get you. We ALL have agendas. ESPECIALLY when it comes to Calzaghe. :bottle:

yes there should be a forced rematch, johnson put it down on dawson when they fought, and dawson didn't have any kind of answer to what johnson was doing. dawson was a completely dofferent fighter against tarver than when he was in the ring with johnson, but that doesn't change the fact that dawson looked like crap that fight and johnson put it on him, only way to change that stigma is to fight again, johnson deserves it, and even though dawson basically set the pace against tarver last night johnson didn't let that happen when they fought because he was applying pressure and fighting on the inside, tarver fought a a distance making it a bit easier for dawson to look really good, which i will say i thought dawson looked really good. but johnson doesn't let fights go on the way tarver does, tarver gets too lax and doesn't work enough, johnson is as busy or busier than who he's fighting...... i think a rematch is in order, i think it should be mandatory, the level of competition between tarver and johnson when fighting dawson was night and day, johnson took the fight to dawson, tarver was looking to land one big clean shot.......... and i do too think that johnson beat dawson when they fought, he outpointed him and i thought that he beat dawson up too, all dawson could say was he was younger and he was glad the judges scored the fight the way they scored it, he couldn't even, and still to this day, can't defend that win with any real facts or evidence on how that fight unfolded..... either way, the Road Warrior deserves a rematch, i'm sure it's one of those fights that dawson doesn't want anything to do with, i'm sure he will pull out the classic hiding tactics by saying " i already beat johnson, i want to fight the others out there" when in reality he was giving that fight by bullshit judging, but a rematch is neccessary and worthy all at that same time.........

I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch. The first fight was pretty good.

I can remember when De La Hoya fought Whitaker, it was a controversial split decision, but he took the risk already and it was pointless to give the old fighter another chance even if he was the stripped champion, he was passing the torch. So let's move on to better fights with younger guys, who need to prove themselves against men like Johnson.

If Johnson won the WBC title from Diaconu then it will proberbly happen if Diaconu wins then Chad will face him. Erdei isn't coming out of his hole in germany. The unknown Huge Garay is there for the taking he's a weak titlest who is only there because Green retired. That's an easy win for Dawson, Hugo or Diaconu/Johnson winner is a possible match for the near future.

I had Hopkins beating Calzhage. They should demand a rematch there too. Joe didn't land any scoring punches and do nearly enuff to take Hopkin's Title. If Johson-Dawson II must happen..then so should Hopkins-Calzhage. I did a poll and a lot more people thought Johnson deserved it than they did Hopkins.

I don't think you can force Dawson into anything, since the guy dropped his title rather than face a mandatory. Being that the first fight was a good, close one, I know I'd like to see a rematch.

I would love to see a rematch between Dawson and Johnson. Not only was it a great fight to watch but would, If Dawson could win more convincingly erase the controversy from their close first fight.

I also had Johnson beating him, by 1/2 rounds I forget now. But fair and square. That result has completely changed the direction of both those careers and others. It's not one of those things, it's a robbery in a big sporting event. Johnson is unlikely to do much better than he did in the first fight even as early as 6 months down the road, especially at his age. Dawson has shown he's only getting better, the beating he got has helped grind him into a tougher fighter. So if they rematch I think Dawsons got it. Lovely, so Johnson beats him in the first one and doesnt get it as deserved. In the rematch Dawsons better as a result of Johnsons schooling, and who loses out again, Johnson. Feel major sorry for the guy but he's in a very difficult position he shouldn't be in imo, he could basically be in Dawsons position right now and isn't.

It'd be nice to take a Mayweather-Castillo I, Morales-Espadas I, etc. off of Dawson's record by winning a rematch handily, but it is really up to him. I'd like to see it, because I heard Chad did fix a lot of the leaks last night and could probably take this one down. Hell, the division isn't that deep anyway, he might as well rematch him... it's not like he has a ton of young contenders to fight in the division anyway... It's really just Johnson, Calzaghe, Erdei and Diaconu that I can think of right now.

I think Glenn Johnson could knock Chad Dawson out in a rematch, Dawson already admitted he was really hurt in that fight. Dawson took Johnson's best shots and he still couldn't knock him out. Dawson only got better since his win against Johnson, which he proved against Tarver. In a rematch Dawson would beat him convincingly next time. Judging by your post you're just a Dawson hater.

I voted no but I think that Dawson should want a rematch with Johnson to prove his is better although I felt that Johnson was the better man in the first fight.I had it 115-113 for Johnson.I think that Dawson should be a better fighter cuz of that fight and should know how to beat Johnson now.A clear win over Johnson would help people get a better picture of just how good Dawson is.

I personally had glenn winning that fight because I felt like he blocked a shit load of Dawson's punches. unless dawson can get calzaghe or pavlik then he should rematch johnson or fight diaconu if he's willing to come to the U.S.

Johnson keeps getting screwed in his career. He wins fights but then gets robbed so many times, its so disgusting. I really hope he is making good money, and I hope that he keeps his body in great health because he is getting older.

The fight should happen IF Johnson were to win the WBC belt from the winner of Diaconu-Branco (most likely Diaconu). In that case I don't see why it shouldn't happen since I doubt that Calzaghe or any other big name is going to fight Dawson right now. Johnson has a fight scheduled for next month against a journeyman.
