We all know how good JMM is.. He outworked pacman (which is a very fast & agile fighter) which I think no one can do.. Good defense.. Accurate punches… Very solid chin… Good counterpunching ability... Pernell is I heard a defensive skilled fighter..
Who would win?? I have marquez by UD..
As offensively prolific as Marquez is, I see nothing in his offensive arsenal that can break through the elusivity of Pea's defense. I just can't see this fight going Marquez's way.
Yep.. Never seen him fight I was impressed with marquez though.... Cause he was a complete fighter..
So you're passing an opinion with nothing to back it up then. You do know Whitaker is an all time great, no?

You have got to be a complete dumb ass to pick JMM. Either that...or you haven't seen Pernell Whitaker fight.
He's picking Marquez because he knows who he is. He hasn't even seen Whitaker fight, just check out his last sentence.

whitaker would win. whitaker is too skilled and is bigger tham marquez.
Grrr: Have a look for Whitaker vs Nelson. I'm sure you know Azumah Nelson right? He fought Whitaker while he was still in his prime, though towards the tail end while Whitaker was at his absolute peak, but still beat him convincingly. Anyone that beats Nelson convincingly is a truly great fighter. Only Sanchez and Fenech were able to do it like he did and even then in the Fenech rematch he came back and knocked him out in eighth rounds. Nelson was a freak and one of the great, great fighters of the last fifty years. He was also similar in size to Marquez and he was small in comparison to Whitaker.
When you've got him very nearly beating Oscar when Oscar was in prime form at WW and Whitaker was old and coked up but still making him look a fool, well, he probably wouldn't struggle overly much with a small, old, slower version of Marquez.
You obviously havn't seen Azumah Nelson v. Juan Laporte. I was very surprised how Nelson fought, he actually boxed Laporte and i thought the fight could have been a draw. Laporte was landed and throwing bombs.
People even make a big deal of Whitiker v. Ramierez who had one of the slowest hands in boxing when he was in his prime.
Whitiker is the bigger fighter so i give him the win. But if it was prime for prime only a great fighter that knows distance and has great timiing is going to get at a prime Whitier besides rough, rushing fighter. And that fighter with great distance and timing is Marquez but only in a pound 4 pound match would i say he give Whitiker the fight of his life in a similar fight like Casamayor, still Whitiker wins but not easy at all. Against Paez, there were times Paez makes Whitiker look like he's shadow boxing with himself. And Paez was a small fighter.
There should of been a rematch for Nelson v. Laporte. Anyone have Nelson v. Azebache?

this poll doesn't merit a vote.
you're comparing a natural featherweight who at the end of his career is fighting at 135 to a guy who started his career at 135 and who has fought much heavier in his career.
this poll would be like oscar vs. roy. yes both fought for a 160 belt but they're not really the same size and it's not a fair comparison.
Marquez is a great counterpuncher but his defense ain't that good really. This is evidenced by his face which always ends up looking like it was put in a meat grinder even against lesser foes. Whitaker would just be too quick and elusive for him to counter. Prime Marquez though is also a formidable opponent for anyone so I don't think Marquez gets embarassed easily, but I'll have to give Whitaker the edge in this match up.
