Mora isn't terrible he just isn't the top class fighter he has been hyped up to be through the Contender. He got a little lucky and caught Vernon on a career-worst night but Forrest set things right in the rematch. Mora is a borderline top 10 154 pounder.
Mora has some decent boxing skills, what he lacks is the power to keep a determined opponent off him.
Yeah Mora really isnt that bad. And he did pull it off in the first fight with Forrest. If I were him I would just get back into the gym and start looking for a more beatable opponent this time around. You dont give up because of one loss to a world class fighter, past his prime or not.
Also I am really happy for Vernon Forrest. I believed he was going to retire as a "what coulda been" after the first Mora fight. He still will be remembered as that to an extent, but at least he has the chance to get another payday, secure his legacy a bit more and retire on a win. He deserves that.
He will fare worse IMO at 160. Abraham, Pavlik and Wright would take him apart.
I agree...I seriously think Mora could have brain damage if he was to step ups in weight...Maybe it was me, but Forrest was rocking Mora a lot and Forrest is not known to be a big puncher...He will get molested by the elite fighters at 160.
Mora will be back, the weight drain really killed him. No excuses though, he got his ass kicked.

He's just a boring fighter to watch.
Ask yourselves, will you pay or even watch a Sergio Mora fight if he's the headline name in that fight? Count me out...
I doubt he'll retire, but you can tell where he'll peak as a fighter and Saturday was a good sign of where that'll be.
Mora already lost twice before losing to vernon forrest, he just had shity judges or the judges were paid off. The Elvin Ayala fight shouldn't have been a draw, Ayala clearly won that fight and the second Peter Manfredo fight Mora lost. He should have a total of 3 losses on his record, but since this is boxing and corrupt shit happens. He has only 1 loss.
he shouldnt retire, how ever... he should definitely try to work a little more in a fight, he made that fight boring as hell, and didnt give that much of an effort.
Jesus Christ he looked LOST in there...THis against an old Forrest..
are you sick? Forrest fought a great fight. he didn't look old in that fight. if forrest looked old and still beat mora, than I would say mora is garbage but really mora lost to a great fighter who didn't fight his age.
Mora is still green, he hasn't been in there with the likes of Forrest.
I think it's safe to say his MD win over Forrest was a fluke, and Forrest proved that tonight.. And this is coming from a Mora fan. I don't think he should retire, at all. It's no shame losing to Vernon Forrest.. Ask Mosley.
While Mora can make a living through boxing, he will never be a top contender. Forrest was fighting in slow motion and still hit Mora plenty of times. Next Forrest fight will be a loss. Lets see who gets the big prize now. Some undefeated well connected fighter should be next for Forrest. Something tells me Forrest will have no problems finding an opponent.
I didnt realize this guy even had fans on this site.
Hyperion or whatever his name was one of Moras fans. He probably isn't now since mora sucks. I told him before the fight how Mora hand picked his opponents, and Hyperion kept getting mad at me and saying no he doesn't... Actually Hyperion really might be Mora
I feel you should retire this screen name. and go back to nsb posting training camp to work on your game :)
Apparantly I'm not the only one who thinks he should retire..
How many punches did he actually throw in this fight?? Seriously... I was hoping he would beat Forrest again but this was a sorry excuse for a fight...
Give me a break...ITs not like he even tried...He landed SIX punches in the first two rounds...I could see if he lost but still tried to box Forrest....He DiDN't even TRY.
What? Why the hell should he retire? Don't go overboard or anything you know. Well, maybe you're right. He did lose to Vernon Forrest who didn't look at all good. He was slow, didn't throw any combo's, lacked power and generally looked even worse than last time....
God these threads are boring. :nonono:
He is still pretty young and making his living through boxing - why would he retire? Even if he ends up a gatekeeper he's making money, he isn't at the level where he can so easily walk away.
