floyd's all time status match ups - floyd mayweather vs alexis arguello.

I like Mayweather in a head-to-head matchup at 130 and 135, but as far as overall standing, I don't know about picking him above Arguello. I pretty much agree, stylewise Mayweather is bad for Arguello. Lesser fighters than Arguello, but with different styles would have a better shot.

PBF was at his best at 130. Alexis would be a tough fight for him but I think Floyd could avoid his power and get a decision.

Arguello had a great chin and real power. He could cut the ring off and and his only losses came to Aaron Pryor when he had already been through wars, and was at the end of his career. In his prime Arguello beats Floyd, cuz at 130 Floyd was quick but real raw. If he was ever caught cleanly and Alexis would have done that, Floyd would have been in trouble.

We will never agree on that because what i saw in that fight was that Hatton would lose to Mayweather anytime and anywhere with any ref. We do not have to agree on that though. I just think Floyd has one of those styles that tends to not allow him to take a malious beating, could super top shelf guys like Robinson, Duran or Pryor do it: it is not out of the question i just find it unlikely that he gets beat that way. You and I saw different things in that fight then because i saw Floyd beat Hatton at his own game. To me Floyd dominated that fight in a way that was not expected. There is a thread about that fight also were i said Duran was the top 135 pound fighter of all time also that he could possibly put a whipping on Floyd (which is a very hard thing to do), but i can see Floyd boxing and flustering him also. To me it is a classic style contrast and i always tend to favor skilled boxers because of who he is at 135 Duran should be the betting favorite no doubt.

the thing is, if you see that ricky fight in the first round, ricky was pressing him hard, ray was never the type to try to box a smaller man, and floyd at these heavier weights hasn't been that active in the ring.you could alomst count the right hands he lands on ricky.
