On the one hand you have a guy that turned pro at 19 years, 7 1/2 months at 131, while the other was defending his title at 112 lbs. You have a guy that weighed in at 150 last year to fight DLH and you have a guy that a few months ago was fighting at 130. I won't get into the obvious height and reach differences.
Close enough, but keep in mind that Mayweather weighed 112 in the amateurs, where you aren't able to blow up weight. Pacquiao weighed in with weights apperently, but he was still a growing weight. The weight difference is useless because Pacquiao has shown he can clearly beat people who weigh more then him. They both rehydrate to the same weight on fight night anyway
Height is minimal. Pacquiao is 5'6 and a half and Mayweather is 5'8. Manny Pacquiao has a 67 inch reach, while Mayweather has a 72 inch reach. Pacquiao, once again, shows he can get past that reach. Morales has the same reach as Mayweather.
Mayweather "looked" De La Hoya's size because De La Hoya crouches down when he fights, but De La Hoya was clearly the bigger man. De La Hoya dehydrated to 160ish come fight night, Mayweather lost two pounds to be 148!
The size is not an excuse for Pacquiao at all. Oh by the way, Miguel Cotto is an inch shorter then PBF and has Pacquiao's reach. Where was the "Cotto's to small to fight him" for that fight? Where was the "size" outcry for Margarito-Cotto?
in a fight between two fighters of near caliber, every measurement counts...
for sure floyd will know how to use 2" to its best advantage.
for sure floyd will know how to use his use his considerable reach advantage.... morale did wonderful w/ his reach advantage in the first fight, but forfeited it in the rematch and rubbermatch.
cotto didn't start boxing at 106 lbs....cotto is naturally stronger and bigger.
Floyd is the bigger guy. Floyd's most effective weight imho was 140-135, while Pacquiao's most effective weight was at 126-122.
at 140 Floyd had no problem hurting his opponents, but struggled to hurt Baldomir and DLH.
Pac was a buzzsaw at 122 and 126 but he doesn't fight with the same intensity at the higher weights. at 126 he knocked down JMM 3 times. at 130 he only knocked down JMM once and couldn't put away Mab in the rematch.
** Problem is, Floydy's fans worried he's getting undercut by Manny.
Manny a lock to be fighter of the decade now. Since Floydy is a self proclaimed billionaire, don't see why this would bother his fans.
Manny is the only guy to KO Morales and Barrera. He actually knocked down Marquez 5x, twice in the 2nd bout but the ref allowed Marquez to hold the rope to avoid the 2nd KD after being knocked silly in the follow up of the first KD. The round ended shortly so it's a minor point since he just KOed a lightweight and welterweight with some of the most ferocious one sided beatings ever seen in modern times.
As far as size goes, unless any of you dears are one of their grrls, whats the worry? They enter the ring at the same size their last few fights.
Now, Floydy has left himself in the cold if he wants to comeback unless he wants to fight Oscar. Manny and Ricky is damn near a done deal as Oscar and Arum are great business buddies now and that fight being developed for some time now. Ain't gonna want to drop that to promote Floydy so he can pull out of mid-promotions in another retirement stunt.
Floydy can only pray Ricky wins since he will never accept Arum's mandates. Might as well piss into this winter's artic blasts as Manny is also gonna blast Ricky to bits a lot faster and without the need for any ref and turnbuckle assistance. Just don't see Manny/Floydy happening unless Floydy takes short money, but funny money is a billionaire who could afford to turn down the estimated 30 mil purse for the Oscar rematch, so maybe he agrees to 35%.
Well, we'll see, deals fall out, fighters get cut, caught by big punches, or run into little buzzsaws like Oscar did, ruining his little retirement fanfare. Be a shame if Manny ruined Floydy's little retirement party also, but Floydy brought it on himself, wearing that sombrero like that.....
floyd walks around at 150-160//pacman walks around at 150-160//pacman is 5-6//floyd 5-7///whats the point of this thread..i hope its not 2 say its an unfair fight..when people say floyd is ducking margo who's 5-11 and walks around at 180 minimum!!!!
Please take off the Mayweather colored glasses. If you want proof that Mayweather is bigger than Pacquiao you dont have to look any further than the press photos of the dream match at the statue of liberty, and any picture of Mayweather now. Pacquiao's 150-160 looks like Erik Morales after too many tacos. Mayweather's 150-160 doesnt look any different from his fight photos.
I thought Mayweather was at 112 when he was 16? Pacquiao fought at 106..but he actually used metal plates to make weight..he was actually around 98 lbs lol.
Mayweather is also taller, has more reach..and looked similar to de la hoyas size when they fought..and that was above 147...

Floyd is bigger of course, ridiculous question to ask. But not by mouch. Floyd is a small welterweight while Manny pac is a f*cking tiny one that really shouldn't be fighting in that division.. but say you make a fight between them at a weltweight catchweight or at 140 and you have a fairly even playing field, size wise.
Manny was 16 when he was at 106. When Mayweather was 16, he was fighting at 106 too...
Mayweather is a little bit bigger, but the size difference is not that different. Size and weight issues are overrated imo. The only reason I mentioned Pacquiao-DLH was because I thought it was to much of a difference. I, obviously, was wrong and it proves my point further.

Floyd Mayweather is MUCH bigger than Pacquiao.
That's why Mayweather started at 130, and Manny started at 106.

floyds a bit bigger, floyd at 147 didnt look that much smaller than Oscar at 150-154..
Size difference isn't huge, but mayweather is def a bit bigger. Pacquiao is very stocky though and strong.
mayweather's weight in his last three fights: 146, 150, 148.
pacquiao's weights in his last three fights: 144, 146, 147
Yeah... MASSIVE difference
its not all about weight... floyd has longer arms and is taller than pac... also i think floyd is stronger and has fought at higher weights longer.
They are the same size, or at least in a relative sense.
they both walk around at just over 150 pounds and Floyd's fighting weight is about 148-150, and Manny came in at 147 pounds last night.
He could make 140. I'll tell you that. Why would he make 130 for? He'd lose alot of muscle. Alot of hard work would be lost.
I'm not saying that he should make 130 lbs, I'm just trying to prove a point that Manny can make it comfortably, while Floyd cannot.
Manny is smaller framed than Floyd, evident in his ability to make the Jr Lightweight division weight limit.
The furthest south that Mayweather can make is 140, and that's speculating, cementing the fact that he is the larger framed man.
THE END.
I think Pacquiao's fans are just afraid of a possible bout between Floyd and Manny. That's why they use the flawed argument that Floyd is so much bigger than Manny, use simplified logic (all Welterweights weigh in at 160lbs), and go out of their way to discredit Floyd. (Gayweather this, Gayweather that.)
It's really quite funny, because if Floyd does come out of retirement next year, and Manny is at 140lbs, who better to beat the shit out of to get your respect than the current #1 p4p fighter in the world?
Floyd would Gatti that ass. Straight up.
Well since Manny's been eyeing the 140lbs weight division for a showdown with the bloated corpse of Ricky Hatton, hopefully Floyd can shed the 7lbs, drop to 140lbs, and we can have the fight there sometime next year.
And he rehydrated to what?
My point is, after hydration, he did not look the way he did in that photo. You're trying to create a skewed perception. In that photo he weighed 130 pounds.
The question is.... Can Floyd make 130 pounds right now???
He cannot, therefore, he is a natrually bigger man than Manny.
Mayweather is bigger and here is why:
Mayweather is straight muscle... not a lot of water weight on him, which is why he weighs in at the same weight that he fights at. He doesn't have to take off a ton of water in order to get down to his weight.
Pacquiao is 135 pounds of muscle (at most). He gets up to Mayweather's weight because of water weight.
Honestly, Mayweather would be able to take a punch better than Pacquiao at 147. He would likely be able to throw harder too... but that is just speculation.
I can't believe 27 people actually think Floyd is bigger. Like it's somehow unheard of for smaller fighters to fight in bigger weight classes (Floyd), and bigger fighters to dwell in smaller weight classes (Manny).
Well they're certainly closer in size than Floyd and Margarito, or Floyd and Cotto.
Floyd is the smallest man at 147lbs, he comes into his fights weighing around 147lbs or 148lbs. (The De La Hoya fight was at 154lbs.)
Pacquiao came into his fight with Diaz at 147lbs. In his last fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, he weighed in at 144lbs. In his second bout with barrera he weighed in at 144lbs yet again.
Floyd weighed in at 146lbs against Judah on fight night, 148lbs against Baldomir on fight night.
Not all Welterweights come into the ring on fight night at 155lbs-160lbs.
Manny is 5'6" and a half, Floyd is 5'8".
There is lieterally no size difference between the two. Save, for a 1 and a half inch height advantage for Floyd.
Should Manny be fighting guys like Margarito? Hell no. But a fight with Mayweather is completely logical to ask. (If Floyd comes out of retirement next year.)
floyd would whoop his ass and counter him ALL DAY eventually to a knock out. many would be a perfect opponent for mayweather. They are not the same size buddy! Pac seemed to really fit in well weighing 135lbs. 140 would be his max weight division and that's pushing it! but he can do it i beieve. floyd vs manny at 147 would be murder!!!!!! Not to mention floyd would hold a 6in reach advantage!
