who do you think is your favorite trainer and who do you think is a bad trainer?
I personally think teddy atlas has to be the best in my opinion after reading his book and doing a project about him in school. I think buddy mcgirt is the worst trainer! almost every fighter he trains either lost before or got whooped while he was the trainer example: antonio tarver, ishe smith, lamon brewster, gatti, david banks, sherman williams and going on
Best Trainer: Freddie Roach aka Eddie Futch of the 21st century.
Johnny Lewis is also one of the best.
Manny Steward has virtually worked with every fighter so that's telling you something.
Worst Trainer: Arnie Rosenthal trains his fighters to get KO'd in best fashion!
Everybody here saying Yoel Judah is a bad trainer, you guys are ignorant. Who do you think got Zab to the elite level? Zab might not have stayed at the top too long, but is it Yoel's fault the guy isn't focused? He was outboxing Mayweather for the first few rounds, that's saying a lot. The problem was condition, that's why I think you hear him yelling like that.
The 2 other guys (that come to mind) that Yoel's trained are Shannon Briggs and Ricardo Mayorga.... not much he could do there.

Teddy Atlas is not a very good pro trainer, to say the least.
The only guy he had real success with was Michael Moorer, who didn't even listen to him.
atlas is credited for helping "inspire" moorer, but watch the fire that moorer had before atlas with manny steward, and afterwards with freddie roach against evander holyfield in the rematch.
hell, moorer didn't even follow atlas's instructions in the 1st holyfield fight when atlas begged him to fight harder. moorer went on and fought just as lazy in those rounds. he didn't even really pick it up until the last round.
the best trainer in recent years is Nacho.
Worst is Yoel Judah by far. "COME ZAB! GIVE HIM SOME OF THESE! BANG BANG!! ZOOM ZOOM!!!"
I'd also like to say Felix Trinidad Sr just do to the fact whenever Trinidad gets his ass kicked, he doesn't do anything other then telling him "It's okay. We are winning. Keep doing what you're doing."
I'd also say Roger Mayweather is underrated. If you watch Floyd Mayweather's career you can notice the difference between Roger and Floyd Sr. When Floyd Sr was training, Floyd was a lot more defensive. He'd take his time. When Roger's training, Floyd becomes a lot more offensive. I think he polished Mayweather's offensive skills. It doesn't show that much anymore since Floyd has a lot of experience now and can mix it pretty well. Although, Roger did a pretty good job with Floyd.
Atlas did real good with Moorer, Moorer just decided not to listen to him in the Foreman fight and he helped train Tyson before Rooney took over.
tyson was like 15 years old.
atlas was rarely any good other than that one night with moorer against holyfield.
moorer fought with more passion with guys like manny and roach in the corner than he did with teddy yelling at him.
My favorite is Nacho Beristain. All of his fighters are technically sound and good offensive fighters. Just look at the Marquez Bros. and Abner Mares I think is really going to take off with Nacho as his trainer.
Billy Grahm is probably the coolest looking trainer, Freddie Roach is also badass. Mick was good too

Only from what ive seen and heard during fights id say Joe Goosen is one of the best while i dont rate Freddie Roach. Futch was prob one of the best, he was always so cool between rounds, that probably calmed his fighters down
whoever said mcgirt was a good trainer, YOUR WRONG. A good trainer can prove it! only a few out of tens of his fighters are good and the rest either get knocked out with him in the corner or just lack in performance and we cant even lie and say hes a GOOD TRAINER!
My favourite trainer is Emmanuel Steward...he has helped transform Wlad into an unstoppable killing machine.
Buddy McGirt is the worst trainer IMO, his record is horrible.
oh I wonder why you chose emmanuel.....its cause he trains the guy you want on top of you. But besides the obvious bias in ALL ur post I agree emmanuel is one of the best, he helped transform tommy hearns into an unstoppable bakery.
I prefer yancy durham, eddie futch, and jack blackburn as the best trainers, them and angelo dundee were all great, its too hard to choose.

I don't think what happened to to the guys you mentioned was buddy's fault. Arturo Gatti was a blown up brawler, he had no business boxin and moving, but Buddy might've saved him from taking some shots. Look at how Gatti was boxing Baldomir in some of the rounds, that was all buddy..wasn't Buddy's fault Gatti's shot!
Antonio Tarver could never beat Bernard, Lamon Brewster could never beat Klitchsko.
Vernon Forrest did to Baldomir what Gatti would have done if he weren't so small and slow.
Buddy Mcgirt is also doing a lot of good work with Paul Malignaggi. Before Buddy, Malignaggi was very 1 dimensional compared to what he is now.
Freddie Roach is a good trainer too, but really only teaches one style, attack with defense.
My favorite trainers: Floyd Mayweather Sr., Buddy McGirt
Least:Roger Mayweather (doesn't teach shit..just says either tie 'em up, keep whoopin his ass), Yoel Judah
