I cant wait till someone knocks this bigmouth out. The guy is a volume punching 6'3 freak who is able to somehow suck down to 147. I'd love to see him try to fight at an appropriate weight for his size or hell even 154. Forrest vs Williams theres a fight. Until then tho he should be happy he scraped by Margarito and shut his mouth until he beats a few more worthy opponents in an impressive manner.
It's funny how people are talking about Williams fighting at WW not being fair. I mean what is there to expect that all WW's are going to be 5'9 with the same exact reach or close to it. That's like saying that it's unfair that Yao Ming is playing in the NBA because he's way taller than most.
In all sports certain athletes have certain advantages whether it be speed, strength, height, size, etc. Some use those advantages to their advantage and some don't. Athletes overcome those disadvantages and some don't. It's part of what makes sports great, especially boxing.
Does Paul Williams have advantages over everybody he fights? Yeah he does and that's part of what has gotten him to this point to be a champion. If he can make the weight when it's time to weigh in why not. He'll eventually probably have to move up, but for now he's at WW and is going to be tough for anybody in the division.
Paul should just focus on the fighter in front of him. He won't beat Mosley unless Mosley is washed up. Cintron was never all that.
There's Floyd, Paul Williams, Cotto and then everyone else at 147...
For your info, williams walks around at 155, 156, this is taken from an interview:
J.S: What's your walking around weight?
P.W: Oh, I walk around at about 155, 156, something like that.
J.S: So welterweight is your natural weight class and next year you figure you'll be welterweight champion if you're given the shot?
P.W: Oh, sir, I'm staying at welterweight until my manager, Mr. Peterson tells me to move up, after targeting some of them belts and stuff. After that we may move up, it just depends on how I feel.
That's why he rehydrated to 162 when he faced Marg right? Please he probably walks around at 165, 166 not 155 156.
just cuz ur tall ur supposed to be heavy?
god damn millie is fine
did you see her at the dlh-mayweather fight? when they put the camera on her before the fight started all my friends and I paused and looked at each other in amazement. she looks like heaven.
Perhaps, you can't argue that Floyd doesn't have freakishly long arms for his height, which is why he is able to lead with the right so often.
When you pivot into a punch, you get more distance on your punch if your shoulders are broader. I would think Byrd looked like a kid next to Wlad more due to his half a foot height disadvantage though, than his arm length.
I'll certainly concede that Floyd has great reach for a 5'8 welter. He was able to keep Hatton off him with ease when he chose to. And my point about Byrd was to show that height totally negates the supposed arm length advantage.
Those arm length measurements are bullshit. They said Byrd had the same arm length as Wladimir and he looked like a little kid when he tried to fight his way inside. It's a deceptive statistic.

Both Wlad Klitschko and Floyd's arm lengths are 26", look it up. Wingspan is no longer used because it's arm length that is most important.
Floyd's wingspan, fingertip to fingertip is 72", Paul WIlliams' is 82", but they both have 26" arm length. Which means Paul has 10" broader shoulders and hence much more body width as a target to go with his added height.

ummm what? are you insane? Klitchsko's reach=81" and mayweathers=72". where did you get your info from? and both height and reach are most important. far more important than weight IMO.

Mouthing off is the new strategy for getting big fights. If you meet Paul, he's the complete oposite, just trying to make a pay check that's all.

If he can make 147 and is successfull there, strong there, as he is then 147 is an appropriate weight for him and there's really no 2 ways about it.
The most important statistic in boxing is arm length. Floyd's is the same as Wlad's, so why is he fighting little WW's?
Same logic.

If thats his weight i wonder why hes fought at middleweight?
well, from williams percpective its ok what he is doing and if he feels he could do it than he should but from my personal, selfish, fan percpective, I don't wanna see a 6'3 guy fight a 5'8 guy cuz its not a battle of skills and its not a fun fight to watch. You can't tell me that if williams went up against pavlik that the fight wouldn't be more entertaining to watch. Fair fights are always good fights.
ohhh now i gotcha lol i understand ..pavlik would kill him lol
I agree. I think its really unfair that he is fighting at that weigt class. He doesn't need skill to beat his oponents and thats sad. at 6'3 he should be fighting at cruiserweight at the least and 82' reach is more than klitchsko's reach. That is just not fair.
i dont think thats fair either ...im 6ft 2 and could never ever ever make middle weight everrr i cant get past 150 for anything ...
If he still can make the 147 limit why cant he fight there? I just dont get it. Margorito is to big for the welterweight but no one bitches about him being to big.
