Mikkel Kesslers promoter Bettina Palle told B.T (A danish news paper) that she has been considering calling Canada to set up a fight between Lucian Bute and Mikkel Kessler for Bute's IBF title.. Kessler himself said he's "Ready for anyone, anywhere" Link http://www.dr.dk/Sporten/Oevrig_sport/Boksning/20071105100737.htm (In danish)
This would be an interesting fight
I rewatched the Kessler-Calzaghe fight last night. It was a more conclusive victory than it looked at the time. There really is no call for a rematch there.
Oh and Kessler >>>>> Bute.
During his Kesslers interview he had mentioned a rematch with Joe C. How do you guys feel about that? Maybe a warm up fight first?
Calzaghe is done with the Super Middleweight divison, theres nothing left for him to prove .. And as Calzaghe said himself, he wouldn't like a rematch "Kessler only gets stronger" But I see some of you guys has been mentioning Miranda and Mundine, Kessler would beat both Mundine (Again) and Miranda.. Easily
i have never seen bute fight ...
Go look at EliteSoldier's signature... that is what Bute did to the other beltholder in the division, Berrio. Not a telling tale of what he capable of, but he definately has the hunger.
He is the big name upcoming prospect, and Kessler has been firmly established as second... I think this would be a good fight to see who takes over the division after Joey Cal leaves.
I'm not totally convinced this fight will happen. would it be wise of Bute to take this fight? Is Bute a big name in the States? I'm guessing Kessler will fight either Miranda or Mundine next. I'm hoping for RJJ though that would be a great matchup.
This is not a good fight for kessler to jump back into it all. I'd rather him fight Miranda or Bika. Bute is fast as hell and hits hard, he is like a replica of Calzaghe. Calzaghe is a great southpaw and Bute is a good southpaw. Bad fight for a return. This is not the right opponent for kessler.
When I've watched Bute I've never thought of Calzaghe. He doesn't fight at the same intensity, is known to bouts of distraction and not as skilled. Bute's a top 5 SMW no doubt but not a fighter Kessler would struggle with.
I don't think Kessler did much wrong against Calzaghe. If he steps in the ring with any other SMW, Bute included, he'd be back to winning ways. It all depends on his confidence level but he should jump straight back into a championship level fight IMO.
it could be a double edged sword. he could jump back in and kick ass like he was doing and get back a major title or he could jump backin and when he gets caught or losses a round or two he could mentally break apart.
Id say fight a contender like green or codrington, ko them for some easy cash and tv views then as confidence will be flowing fight bute or someone else for the vacant titles calzaghe has left.
Bute wouldn't have been my 1st choice, personnally I would rather have him travelling downunder and earn himself some easy aussie dollars, before he took on someone who is a potential threat. just to get back on track.

would be an interesting fight, a tough test for Kessler's especially after his defeat. I'd see Kessler winning this fight with his more accurate punches.
