if he hugs too much in this fight the ref should take a point, somebody has to prove to hatton that in real american boxing excessive clinching it outlawed, this isnt wales dublin or where ever he's from.
do you think he should have points taken away for clinching 2:45 out of 3:00 minutes?
I don't understand why that didn't happen in the Urango fight. I remember back in the old days fighters would either get a point deducted or the fight would be over. I remember seeing that in an old Tyson. The guy was clinching too much and referee stopped the fight and declared Tyson the winner. They need to enforce that again because its not fair to the fans to go through that.
GAHAHA...wales dublin. Choice...
Funny how the Hatton fans agree hes a hugger but now its that "he had to to get by this fight" or whatever. A few more shit-house fights and even Hattons fans will see the light. Only took 43 fights. Interesting...:moon:
Rather a political post don't you think? Hatton fans are on the whole fairly realistic. Hatton got criticism for his holding late in the Urango fight on his own message board. To hold being realistic about your favourite fighter as some sort of weakness is frankly pathetic. Hatton's performance against Urango was awesome for six rounds, dominant for three rounds and disappointing for the last three, and there's no point in trying to deny it. The fact remains that most of Hatton's fights have been entertaining and exciting, and even the bad fights have had their exciting moments.
I don't mind Hatton's clinching as much as I do, say, Wladimir Klitschko's in that Peter fight because Hatton actually WORKS when he's holding on the inside. He'll maul you and hold you, but he'll throw to the body in there too.
Excessive holding should not be allowed though.
this isnt wales dublin

He held a bit in his last two fights, particularly in his last one in the last three rounds. He still throws more punches per round than any other active fighter though.
Good post. Thanks for that.
excellent article. I think Hatton will get warned if he tries to hold repeatedly against Castillo, but to be honest the miniature ruiz analogy is harsh. The Tszyu fight was dirty because of their styles, Collazo actually did his fair share of holding since he didn't want Hatton teeing off on the inside.
Against Urango the holding was really disappointing, especially since the first 4 or so rounds were pretty impressive from Hatton. Even guys who don't like him or didn't know him had to like that.
Everyone has too realise that different boxer have different styles. Hatton hits as hard as he can and gets hit as hard as a possible. It's the most stamina effecient way off fighting. What PBF does is no where near as tiring as Hatton does, but it wins him fights so why not. I don't mind watching someone with brilliant defence either, it get me excited to see if he'll get hit or not.
It's the way he fights, he also throws alot of shots when in a clinch.
Also did any of you complain when he fought kosta and hugged throw most of that?
I think he's more exiting than pbf, so are you gona take points of pbf for running all the time, at least hatton actually goes out to finish a fight and not careing if he gets hurt.
I agree, most of this 'hugging' happened in the last fight and that was because he was fucked and had just to get through it. I think it was quite professional of him as it was all within the rules of the game.

Wow, Dino is finally green lol. Hopefully he will get penalized. I am hoping for a good fight. Even his hometown fans have to agree he does hold an alwful lot and we hate him for it. This fight has potential for fight of the year candidate if both guys come to fight.
