As everyone knows there are both very controversial wins on his record, and equally controversial losses. What do you see his record as?
Controversial Wins:
Ike Quartey
Felix Sturm
Pernell Whitaker
Controversial Losses:
Shane Mosley
Shane Mosley
Felix Trinidad
Floyd Mayweather Jr.
I have de la Hoya at 41-2-0, with Wins over Shane twice, Felix and Floyd, and losing to Bernard and Sturm.
How do you got it?
I call them how i see them and to me his legit losses are Hopkins, Mosley 1and Sturm. The Mayweather fight was a draw but if you think mayweather won i won't argue because of his ability to land more even if they were one at a time. Win or lose he fought everyone and ducked no one. The only two fighters that he didn't fight were Tszyu and Wright. He didn't fight Tszyu because he got knocked out by Vince Phillips and that fight was already in negotiation. He didn't fight wright for reasons he only knows but i think its because Wright had no name before he beat the "overrated Mosley"
imo, oscar lost to whitaker and quartey, but they were both close fights. and yes, he loss decisively to mayweather jr, 8-4 at the most. i don't believe the poll thta boxingscene has going asking who viewers thought won the fight. they have oscar with more votes. it makes people look like they don't really watch the rounds in depth. floyd made oscar look like an amateur when oscar threw his power shots. floyd won that fight clearly, and it should have been a unanimous decision, not split decision. imo, he beat trinidad, and mosley the 2nd fight. his record to be 38-5 like it is, just with different opponents beating him and losing to him.
Felix defiantly won? Please, if any that is the most disputed loss of Oscars Career. If you think Tito DEFIANTLY won you need to change crack dealers or start smoking ice because Tito was out classed.
I believe he is talking about Sturm or atleast I hope he is.
Draw with Whitaker
Close loss to Quartey
Close win over Trinidad
Close (clear) loss to Mosley 1st fight
Close win over Mosley 2nd fight
Close loss to Sturm
KO defeat to Hopkins
8-4 loss to Mayweather
What's his official record? 38-5? I'd have him at 37-5-1.
I agree with you
Fuck DLH he's only about the money. The DLh vs B-Hop was fake. I mean even though DLH would have still lost why did he just decide to fake it and take the money. Why was DLH talking so much trash about *Oh I'ma make it a fight* against PBF. PBF was dodgeing and blocking him like he was some kid. Also why did he start running from tito. DLH was winning but then starts running. Idk I just dont like the guy.
Ike won close decision in my eyes.
Felix definetly won
havent seen whitaker fight..
I gota watch the mosley fights again aswell as trinidad fight, been long time..
and I scored the fight against oscar for floyd, but I can also easily see how a judge can give ti to oscar aswell, all depens what there scoring on.

You had Oscar beating Floyd? :nonono:
Welcome to my ignore list.
IMO he didnt win any of those fights. early in his career he got the benefit of doubt b/c he was the young lion! American OlympiC Gold Medalist! So things went his way(i.e. whitaker and ike). then people realzed that he doesnt have the skills to really get the benefit anymore. He ran from Trinidad the 2nd half of the fight, 1st mosely--mosely cleary outworked him, 2nd mosely--people are often fooled by Lampley' call of the fight(watch it with the sound off or better yet, when Lampley says "and DLH lands a big flurry) watch it in slow motion and see that most if not any of the punches landed(sound familiar)...he lost to sturm--what did DLH do to actually win that fight? hopkins demolished him. PBF beat him bad enough that DLH fans were giving him sympathy rounds. they want to say DLH won b/c he didnt get blown away like even they thought he would. DLH fans want to claim that he is a good fighter, then say stuff like,"well he was never blown out in any of his fights." WTF??? has he ever blown anyone he has fought out? oh yea an old ass Chavez(who ironically he gave a rematch to, but didnt give sweet pea or ike one). and an undersized gatti. lets get real
And stop saying he fought the best fighters. trust me its not b/c he wanted to. all the best fighters called him out b/c they new it was a victory for them and their biggest payday(for DLH as well)...DLH got all the concessions in every fight(ring size, glove type, weight, date) and still lost. now if the NE PATS told every team they played that they would have to play in FOXBORO, and that NE would get the ball inside their own 20 at the start of every possession, and the other team is only allowed 3 downs instead of 4, and NE still losses, would they be considered "great"...i dont think so, so why should DLH.

I thought he lost eight rounds of the Quartey fight.
I thought he lost 7-5, or 114-113 to Quartey.
I laugh when idiots claim he clearly won it because of the 12th. Were people paying attention to the previous 6 rounds where he was mostly just staring at Quartey? He won maybe 1 round from rounds 6 thru 11. If he won, it was by the skin of his teeth in the 12th, and even then, you must be a little generous to Oscar.

i completey agree....it would be 40-2-1 (draw w/mosley on the first fight @ 147lbs) the loss sturm,b-hop
There is noway the FLoyd fight should of been a split decision. Oscar didn't win no more than 4 rds.
This is exactly what I keep trying to tell these people. But if you don't get you don't get it.
I thought he lost eight rounds of the Quartey fight.
Lost to Quartey, beat Whitaker, beat Trinidad, lost to Mayweather, I never saw the Sturm fight and dont take it seriously because he was obviously fat and out of shape and shouldnt have been fighting at 160 anyway. And he beat Mosley the second fight.
Lots of people dispute them. And both fights were Split Descisions.

Those two fights are not controversial he clearly lost them.
How can yall critize PBF for fighting a past his prime De la Hoya when the 2 biggest names on De la Hoya's list were old and past they're primes. Now on to the subject. De la Hoya lost to Swet Pea, Mosely once, Ike Quartey, B-HOP, and Mayweather. I want to see the 2nd Mosely fight again and I never saw the Felix Strum fight. From what I remember about the Trinidad fight I think a draw would have been the best outcome. The Mayweather fight was not even close I am getting tired of hearing that shit was a close fight PBF made De la Hoya miss all night. I was at the fight that shit wasn't close.
How can you guys diss Hopkins and kiss up to Oscar? Hopkins has fought RJ, Taylor twice, Tarver, will soon fight Winky, fought Tito, Oscar, and underrated guys like a prime Echols. That resume is no joke. He might didnt fight the big names early but there really wasnt nobody to fight. Its not like he had super names around him.
How can you rip Hopkins when Oscar's resume is even more overrated. Ive always said that he got too much credit for his fights. He fought an old Chaves, he fought a way past his prime Sweet Pea who he was way bigger then, he fought Mosley after Shane basically jumped 2 weight classes just to fight him, he fought Vargas after Tito clearly ruined him, he fought Mosley again but only because he lost the 1st fight, and he fought a fight against Hopkins that half the people thought he threw the fight in.
His only real big fight is the Tito fight but that isnt super special because both guys were basically undefeated, in there prime, in the same division, and both were huge stars. That was a obvious fight that anyone wouldve took. He fought Floyd but he knew that he was much bigger then Floyd just like he knew about Mosley. You guys are trying to say that Hopkins fought smaller guys but so did Oscar. Thats why he took alot of those fights,
