Didnt see that one coming.
Junior welterweight Lovemore Ndou scored TKO against Naoufel Ben Rabah when Ben Rabah did not come out for the twelfth round in an IBF eliminator on Sunday in Sydney, Australia. Ndou had badly rocked Ben Rabah in the previous round. The win made Ndou the mandatory challenger for IBF titleholder Ricky Hatton, should Hatton elect to retain the title. A June fight between "The Hitman" and Jose Luis Castillo has already been announced although there are strong rumors that the Hatton camp has commited to the IBF that he'll face Ndou in June and Castillo in November. Stay tuned...
Pretty cool,I like Ndou, intresting how this played out.
A very green Cotto dominated NDou three years ago, winning like 8 or 9 rounds easily. Hatton should have no problem with the guy. I'm glad NDou finally won a big fight after getting beat by Mitchell (dubiously), Cotto, and Witter
Possibly yes. :boxing:
Ndou Stops Raban in 12, Next Stop Hatton
SYDNEY, Australia - Lovemore Ndou scored a 12th-round technical knockout over Naoufel Ben Rabah in a world title elimination fight Sunday at Sydney Olympic Park. details]
Interesting...N'Dou is a tough guy and has given everyone he has fought a tough time. He's one of those guys who probably won't get to the highest level but will always give a spirited effort. He certainly gave Cotto and Mitchell rough fights...I didn't see that Witter bout.
I think Ricky will pound out a decision in this one...something like 8-4 on the cards.

You cant blame HATTON at all. Its this corrupt IBF and stupid boxing politics.
Sorry to disagree Kball but I can't see the justification for holding onto the belt if it's going to involve that kind of cost. He has many other well respected fighters to pursue and Castillo is just the start. These are the legacy years. He hasn't taken on too many big names over the years (not that that is a problem) but now that he has the name and the leverage he needs to use it.
The worldwide consensus is that he is the best 140lb fighter. The IBF strap only supports that, it doesn't define it. If the IBF want to strip Hatton and give it to a less regarded fighter that hurts only them, not Hatton.
If Hatton had 5 years left I'd concur with his decision but he doesn't. His style is one that traditionally fades with youth and he recognises this.
Not one fighter will chase him for the belt, they'll chase him because he's 'Ricky Hatton'. Fighters like Mayweather can rightfully say right now that the only name he's beaten is Tzsyu (and what a name!) and the longer he goes between fighting worldwide recognised names just cements the domestic boxer image.
Castillo alone will not negate this. Castillo isn't looking that good. But he is a great stepping stone to another name fighter. Hatton needs to move now.
A great fighter is better than belts. Hatton's going to miss out by taking this safe path.
I'm in full agreement. I have generally been fairly supportive of Hatton but I find this the first really indefensible action that he has made. At this stage where he is talking legacy and potential retirement in a year or two this is a real waste of time.
I have enjoyed his rough and tumble style without being a big fan. I have generally given him the benefit of the doubt in relation to big fights (moving up to welter, Floyd etc) but this one I can't condone.
Either you are at mega fight status or not. Are you ready for the big fights or not? If you aren't ready now, what are you waiting for. I'm starting to believe that Hatton is beginning to doubt himself as he has had less than stellar results to show for his recent bouts. I agree that there were mitigating factors to Collazo but I just don't have the energy or will to come up with a reason for this upcoming fight.
I think he is doubting himself and protecting his '0' and that only hurts his legacy as far as I'm concerned. If your hero is Duran, act like him.

Hatton went back to 140 and fought Urango, ALL solely to win back his title that took him years to win. And i doubted he would give it all up just because he has to fight NDOU.
But i was hoping they would fight in APRIL and then HATTON-CASTILLO would happen in AUGUST
where can i see highlights?
Hatton has a good chance at stopping this guy... but if he tires like he did against URANGO then HATTON could be the one getting stopped.

this is so pathetic at this stage of hattons career, were talking about how hes gonna defend his title against cotto leftovers. a greener cotto at that. i want hatton against an opponent who can actually have a 42 percent chance at beating him, these fights are like comeback fights, but hes undefeated, come on man.
Agree, I would've loved to have seen Hatton say fuck all the the IBF and fight Castillo instead of this.

I picked N'Dou to win this fight by SD. I thought he'd be able to cut the ring off and catch Rabah as he was trying to dance away. Lovemore has a pretty solid defense, an brick for a chin, and plenty of big-fight experience.
This is the best fighter for Hatton, too. Rabah, IMHO, has less of a chance against Ricky than Lovemore does. I see Ricky winning a UD, maybe 116-112 with no KDs in the fight. I do see a very good, toe-to-toe, action-filled fight, tho.
i didn't watch it, but from the highlights it seemed that rabah was going toe-to-toe with ndou, which is something he shouldn't have done...........i was expecting rabah by UD by boxing, but brawling with Ndou would have been a wrong idea............have to see full fight to give proper review.
was this fight televised somewhere then?
What suprised me is that, rabbah put on a boxing lesson against the supposed much heavier handed Urango, but Ndou made him quit?!
I could see hatton stopping Ndou if the fight comes of,Ndou dosent do any one thing great, not speed, not power, not technique. What he is, is tough and relentless.
Im glad to see hes getting a shot at the title,I didnt think hed get there after the witter fight, but maybe Im underrating witter.

The outcome shocked me a little, i expected rebah to run away with a wide UD, but ndou is one tuff customer. I see my boy's medley and geale won also aswell as bika and briggs winning their fights respectively.

Not surprised at all. Ndou is one tough fighter, he had me scared in the last few rounds against Cotto and also had a very close fight against Witter. Ndou could establish himself as a champ at 140 no doubt.
The Witter fight was close because Witter broke his hand halfway through. Witter would probably have stopped him if that hadn't happened.
Cotto dealt with N'Dou fairly well I thought. N'dou is a tough fighter.
