People talk about david tua as being one of the hardest hitters in heavyweight history . But this is a guy who couldnt put a blown up middleweight in chris byrd on the canvas. tua hit very hard but he was never one of the hardest punchers in heavyweight history . he never knocked out an opponent with a good chin . He was only able to put the weak chinned rahman on the canvas once in 2 fights and it was after the bell.
Tua-peter. Let's Do It!
It sounds exciting.
But that could end up being a clinchfest.

Review the 12 round of their fight.
As somone mentioned in another post, heavyweight don't train like they should so they get gassed.
You need heart in boxing to really be great.
In his prime, which was when he weighed in the 220's, his punch out-put was much better, thus allowing himself to setup shots better...this is the key in boxing you know, "setting up your shot", if you don't, boxers will be able to see your punch coming and set themselves for the blow, ex: not to over use Tyson, but Tyson was asked "who hit you the hardest", his response, "Holyfield", "not because he was the best one punch hitter, because he wasn't, but because he hit you over and over and over again"
Tua has big power, but the man just got lazy after the IKE fight...he is also very short so it is harder for him to hit a guy on the chin without jumping up in the air, which decreases your power
I am not disputed that tua is a very haed puncher but this talk about him being one if the hardest hitters in heavyweight history is a joke . He has never knocked any guy with a good chin and john ruiz does not have a good chin he was put on the canvas twice by andrew golata who is not a big puncher .Some people even felt he hit harder than tyson or lewis . I just think his power is a bit overrated he never had the power of tyson or lewis . Those 2 guys were the hardest punchers of their era outside of foreman.
THats just nonsence, catskills.
I watched the Byrd fight last night. And he just didn't land enough to ko him. Not to mention Byrd has a brilliant chin. He's a blown up Cruiserweight, not Middle weight like Toney. Toney btw took flush shots from Peter. Chin doesnt count on weightclass./
Actually just before he turned pro he was a middle weight ;)
