Multiple sources have confirmed to BoxingScene.com that DAZN executive chairman John Skipper met recently with Canelo Alvarez in San Diego and offered new incentives for a commitment from the Mexican superstar to fight Gennadiy Golovkin on September 12 of this year in conjunction with Mexican Independence Day Weekend.
Faced with widespread criticism for its draconian punishment of Ivan Redkach, the New York State Athletic Commission has stepped back from the brink. With slightly more than a minute left in round eight of the January 25, 2020, fight at Barclays Center between Redkach and Danny Garcia, Ivan bit Danny just below the left side of his neck while the fighters were in a clinch. It wasn't much of a bite. Referee Benjy Esteves didn't notice it. Nor did the Showtime commentating crew. Redkach immediately extended his right glove in a gesture of apology and the fight went on.

He's more than able to ferret out the details of a story. So . . . What does King have to say about the economics of DAZN's business model in the United States? By Thomas Hauser - On May 10, 2018, Eddie Hearn (managing director of Matchroom Boxing) and Simon Denyer (CEO of what was then Perform Group) announced a joint venture at a press conference in New York. I met Saul Mamby in 1983. I'd just begun researching The Black Lights - my initial foray into boxing writing - and wanted to talk to some fighters. So I went to Ringside Gym, one of three gyms near Times Square in New York. Mamby had just finished working out. I asked if we could talk. He said "sure." I asked my first question. And Saoul answered, "Wait a minute. This is a serious interview. Let me shower and then we'll talk."
Each year during the holiday season, I publish a list of what I consider to be the best books on boxing. That list, updated to accommodate recently published titles, follows. Taken together, the books offer a compelling look at the sweet science from bare-knuckle days to the present. Some of these books are now out of print. But with the proliferation of online services like Abebooks.com and Amazon.com, all of them can be found. I’ve listed the US publisher for each book, but many of them have been published in the UK as well.
Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Bob Bennett has sent a strongly worded letter to Eddie Hearn (managing director of Matchroom Sports) objecting to the manner in which Matchroom has handled the refusal of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr to provide a test sample to a Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency collection agent on October 24. In part, Bennett's letter warns, "Grounds exist to bring disciplinary action against Matchroom before the NSAC. If Matchroom does not take the necessary action to come into compliance with Nevada law, our office will consider its options."
By Thomas Hauser - Matchroom Boxing USA plans to promote - and DAZN plans to stream - a super-middleweight fight between Danny Jacobs and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on December 20. Few boxing insiders think the bout will be competitive. Jacobs is a prohibitive favorite. But DAZN wants Chavez on the network because it believes his presence will drive...
Trainer Andre Rozier raised a few eyebrows while sitting with a small group of reporters prior to the August 22 kick-off press conference for the upcoming fight between Gennady Golovkin and Sergey Derevyanchenko at Madison Square Garden.
