Zuffa BoxingRyan Garcia has issued a final warning to Floyd Mayweather Jnr over a proposed fight for Garcia's WBC welterweight title, insisting he will move on if the retired former champion fails to finalise a deal.
Garcia claimed earlier this month that Mayweather had contacted him about ending his retirement at the age of 49 to challenge for the WBC belt.
Questions remain over the seriousness of Mayweather's intentions, however, with the unbeaten Hall of Famer having already agreed to fights with Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao, neither of which has yet taken place.
Despite earning more money in the ring than any fighter before or since, Mayweather has faced reports of financial difficulties, including claims that he has taken advances on his purses for the proposed Tyson and Pacquiao contests.
Any agreement to face Garcia would also raise questions about how those existing commitments could be accommodated.
Garcia, though, appears to be growing impatient. The WBC champion took to social media to warn Mayweather that he intends to fight on February 6, with or without him.
“Floyd Mayweather, you called me and wanted this fight and I agreed, this is a big fight,” Garcia wrote on X.
“But I am fighting February 6th regardless, so unless you actually make this happen then this fight is gone.
“You can go fight whoever but this is for a championship. I will take you ‘0’ with pleasure. Final warning. No more games, let’s make it happen.”
