The WBC recently ordered an immediate rematch between Hopkins and light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal. They fought to a controversial twelve round majority draw in December.
IBO light heavyweight champion Danny Green, 37-years-old, is recovering in a hospital after having surgery to remove his appendix. "The Green Machine" will need several days to recover from the procedure. Green was hospitalized a few days ago when an abscess formed around his appendix. He underwent surgery on Tuesday and is still in a lot of pain.
According to Lem Satterfield of BoxingScene.com/FanHouse.com, female boxing icon Christy Martin (49-5-3, 31KOs) will return to action on the Miguel Cotto-Ricardo Mayorga pay-per-view undercard on March 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Martin, 42-years-old, will take part in a fight scheduled for six rounds.
Undefeated Dereck Chisora is tired of hearing David Haye's mouth. The WBA champion is upset with Wladimir Klitschko's decision to defend his WBO/IBO/IBF titles against Chisora on April 30 in Germany. Chisora has dared Haye to involve himself in a four man doubleheader, with Chisora facing Wladimir, and Haye fighting older brother, and WBC champion, Vitali Klitschko in the co-feature. Chisora told Haye to move forward with his plan to retire by October because the sport of boxing won't miss him.
