This week, Tomasz Adamek, in a letter written to Marian Muhammad, President, International Boxing Federation, formally vacated his IBF Crusierweight Title. Adamek expressed his regret in having to vacate the title and thanked the IBF for the opportunities he was given.
Tomasz Adamek will take on Andrew Golota in a heavyweight battle at Arena Lodz, in Lodz Poland, on Saturday, October 24th. The media was invited to attend his last workout at World Boxing and Fitness Center in Jersey City, before Tomasz leaves for Poland. Fans of Main Events Boxing Series have come to anticipate a night of great boxing entertainment when they come to “The Rock”. On Saturday, July 11th that tradition will continue! The winner of this battle will move into the #1 position and become the mandatory IBF Middleweight challenger to Champion Arthur Abraham. The fight will be televised live on ShoBox: The New Generation on SHOWTIME (11 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast).
Newly-crowned IBF Cruiserweight Champion Tomasz “Goral” Adamek of Jersey City and Golwice, Poland returns to Newark’s Prudential Center on Friday, February 27th to make the first defense of his world title against Detroit’s undefeated Johnathon Banks when Main Events and Ziggy Promotions, in association with K2 Promotions, bring boxing back to “The Rock.” The inaugural event of Main Events’ “Brick City Boxing Series” at the Prudential Center also will be aired on Showtime as part of its ShoBox boxing series.
The Philadelphia Phillies fan is a constant fixture at the James Shuler Memorial Gym in West Philly and the Rock Ministries Gym in Kensington. But despite his intensity he and his team keep the atmosphere relaxed with practical jokes: “We like to have fun in camp. Last week when my trainer [Anthony Chase] landed in Philly we told him we rented a nice apartment for him. We took him to the ghetto to a house where the grass was over-grown and the windows were boarded. I walked over to the car with a straight face and gave him the keys and his jaw dropped.
