Kevin McBride held a media workout today in preparation for his April 9th fight against Tomasz Adamek. This is what he had to say:

LOS ANGELES – Former world heavyweight champion and 1996 Bellarusian Olympian, Sergei “The White Wolf” Liakhovich, has some unfinished boxing business to take care of starting April 9, when the consummate boxer-puncher returns to the ring for the first time in nearly a year.

Kathy Duva: "Since Zab came back to Main Events in July, he has done everything we have asked, gone above and beyond. He is taking all the steps he needs to take to regain that Jr welterweight title that he first won so many years ago, coincidentally against a South African. Before he can succeed he has to deal with this gentleman, Kaizer Mabuza, who has the same idea. Kaizer Mabuza has come here all the way from South Africa. I am sure he has worked his entire life to get to the same place. They both have the same goal.

Kathy Duva. Main Events, CEO: "April 9th is an important fight for both fighters: in Kevin McBride's case this is a great opportunity for him; in Tomasz's case he has a great opportunity ahead of him in Poland where he has an offer to fight one of the Klitschko brothers in September. But Tomasz does not like to be idle."

Tomasz Adamek vs. Kevin McBride, originally scheduled for late April at Newark's Prudential Center has been moved to Saturday, April 9th, it was announced today by promoters Kathy Duva of Main Events and Ziggy Rozalski of Ziggy Promotions.

Brick City Bar and Grill, Newark NJ - Kathy Duva, CEO Main Events - "We are marking another beginning and it relates back to a really long time ago. We used to have fights in a place in Totowa NJ called Ice World. It was a hockey rink, and as a matter of fact, there was a new hockey team that used to practice there called the Devils. We started putting fights on there in about 1979, and in 1980 ESPN came in and started broadcasting some of the fights. That was kind of how our business started. My late husband Dan became the promoter and I learned how to be a publicist there. We sold 3,000 tickets to each fight. For a few years it turned into a true phenomenon in boxing."

Former WBO Heavyweight Champion Siarhei Liakhovich and Main Events CEO Kathy Duva announced today that they have entered into a promotional agreement.

The undercard of the IBF 140 pound title fight between Zab Judah and Kaizer Mabuza, held at the Prudential Center's AmeriHealth Pavilion in Newark on March 5, will feature an exciting group of local NJ/NY fighters. This will be the inaugural event for the AmeriHealth Pavilion, which traditionally serves as the NJ Devils practice facility.

Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker has joined Zab Judah's training camp to help Zab prepare for his upcoming title fight against Kaizer Mabuza.

Tomasz Adamek will challenge one of the world champion Klitschko brothers in Poland in September. The final decision whether it will be WBC Champion Vitali Klitschko or IBF/WBO/IBO Champion Wladimir will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
