WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34KOs) is very confident that he could beat WBA/IBF/IBO/WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko tomorrow.
Klitschko defends his titles against undefeated mandatory challenger Tyson Fury on November 28th in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Wilder captured his title in January with a twelve round decision over Bermane Stiverne and since then has won two voluntary bouts by knockout. He plans to have another voluntary on January 16th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The rumored opponent at the moment is Czar Glazkov (21-0-1, 13 KOs).
After his next voluntary, Wilder will have to make a mandatory defense against Olympic gold medal winner Alexander Povetkin.
Wilder sparred with Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) back in 2012 and felt he did very well against the heavyweight king. Klitschko has been undefeated for the last eleven years. Should he get past Fury, Klitschko would be a big favorite to defeat Wilder.
“If it was tomorrow, I could beat him,” Wilder recently told Forbes. “I’ve improved so much since 2012, and he’s declining. He’s getting older. He’s not going to be the same as he was. We know each other, and I know how to beat him. I know what it takes. He doesn’t have as much energy as I do. I’m the toughest, the strongest and the fastest heavyweight he’s faced.”
