Kalle Sauerland knew that the announcement of the heavyweight bout between Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder would cause a stir.

The fight at London’s O2 Arena on April 4 signals the start of Sauerland’s new promotional entity, MF Pro – something he differentiates from Misfits Boxing.

“It’s the same shareholders, the same money, the same investors as MF Pro,” he said. “It’s just we want to very much separate the businesses optically, because they do totally different things. So, that’s I think the easiest way of describing it. And what a way to commence this new era, right? We wanted to start with something big.”

The show involves the veteran heavyweights each taking part in the 50th fight of their careers.

It was something that, around the turn of the year, Sauerland started to think could be possible.

Sky Sports Box Office were leading the race to screen it but DAZN “got very punchy” and the fight has landed with them.

It seemed the first MF Pro card could be headlined by the recent 13-0 (7 KOs) signing Viddal Riley, but the British cruiserweight champion could instead appear on the undercard of Wilder-Chisora, possibly against veteran European champion Mateusz Masternak, the 50-6 (33 KOs) Pole.

Sauerland also has Harlem Eubank in his stable.

Could the Brighton welterweight also feature on the bill?

“Harlem, potentially as well,” said Sauerland. “But there’s also, with this new broadcast deal we’ve got worked out, once we’ve done it, we’ve got to get to work because we want to go pretty quick after that again, so we’re gonna need a headline.”

Chisora is promoted by Queensberry and Sauerland said that Frank Warren also intends to add a big fight to the April 4 bill, and that the former WBC flyweight champion Charlie Edwards could feature.
