Tiara Brown will make the first defense of her featherweight title on September 20 in Houston, according to Overtime Boxing, the show’s promoter.

Her opponent has not yet been announced.

Brown, 19-0 (11 KOs), won the WBC belt from Skye Nicolson on March 22, winning a split decision in Nicolson’s home country of Australia on the undercard of George Kambosos-Jake Wyllie.

That achievement was a long time coming for Brown, who is 37 years old and has been boxing professionally since 2016.

“They told me I was irrelevant and so far down in the rankings that I would never get a title shot,” Brown posted on social media a few weeks ago. “God made a way. I kicked down the door and brought the WBC featherweight championship from Australia back to America! So miss me with the BS and don’t ever again think of telling me what I’m capable of doing! I won’t allow anyone or anything to get in the way of my dream.”

BoxRec lists several other fights for Overtime Boxing’s card that day. The main event will feature a bout between unbeaten junior welterweights Breyon Gorham, 19-0 (15 KOs), who hails from Houston, and Jose Luis Vazquez Hernandez, 19-0 (3 KOs).

Also scheduled in separate fights are two other Houstonians: junior welterweight Giovanni Marquez, 13-0 (6 KOs), against New Yorker Wesley Ferrer, 17-2-1 (8 KOs), and lightweight Oscar Alan Perez, 13-0-2  (7 KOs) against Malik Lewis, 8-1 (5 KOs), of Miami.
