Tamm Thibeault is fully set for her homecoming bout.

BoxingScene has confirmed that the two-tour Olympian for Canada will next face Italy’s Cristina Mazzotta in a scheduled six-round middleweight contest. The pairing will serve as the co-feature to the previously announced September 27 Most Valuable Prospects 15 DAZN show from Theatre St-Denis in Montreal, Canada.

“Tamm Thibeault is a phenomenal athlete whose meteoric rise and world-class talent set the standard for the next generation of boxing,” MVP co-founders Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul said in a joint statement provided to BoxingScene. “Her co-main event against Cristina Mazzotta is an important step in her rapid rise, pitting one of Quebec’s finest athletes against one of Italy’s most promising talents.

“On Saturday, September 27, Montreal’s Théâtre St-Denis will provide the perfect stage for Tamm to perform for her hometown fans, delivering a memorable night demonstrating MVP’s commitment to developing top talent on a global scale, live on DAZN.”

Thibeault’s clash with Mazzotta, 1-0 (0 KOs) will mark the first time in her ambitious pro career where she will fight at the women’s standard two-minutes per round limit, a testament to the advanced level at which she’s already fought in less than one year as a pro.

All three prior bouts for Thibeault were conducted under the three-minute round limit normally reserved for men, but what has become a staple for the talented women under the Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) banner. The importance of fighting close to home and against yet another quality opponent, more so than the terms of the bout, were the primary focus.

“Cristina Mazzotta is incredibly talented,” noted Thibeault, who fights roughly two hours from her Shawinigan hometown. “I’m looking forward to a competitive fight that will push me to perform at my very best.

“This co-main event is a chance to represent Quebec with pride and take another step toward a world title. The support from my hometown is incredibly meaningful, and I want to deliver a performance that the fans will never forget on Saturday, September 27.”

Thibeault is coming off a fifth-round knockout of previously unbeaten Mary Casamarra.

The bout took place on the undercard of the historic July 11 Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano trilogy clash on Netflix from Madison Square Garden in New York City. Thibeault’s early win was just one of two on the night to come inside the distance, as he lodged a career-deepest 14-plus minutes’ worth of ring time before she produced the stoppage.

With the win, Thibeault became the number one contender with both the IBF and the WBA. It was the second consecutive knockout for Thibeault, who turned pro last December after having represented Canada in the 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Olympics. The multilingual, renaissance woman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in that field and urban planning.

For now, she gets to study up on her second consecutive unbeaten opponent.

Mazzotta turned pro on July 12 – one night after Thibeault’s latest win – in a six-round decision victory over Ester Konecna. The bout took place in Mesagne, barely 20 minutes from her hometown of Brindisi, Italy.

The event drew more than 2,000 fans in attendance, on hand to celebrate the proud middleweight who represents the storied Pugilistica Rodio Brindisi gym, a boxing institution since 1938. While the clash with Thibeault represents a major step up in talent, she comes in proudly carrying a nation on her back for her first fight abroad.

"I’ve been training long and hard to display my skills on a big platform,” said Mazzotta. “MVP is doing big things in women's boxing and I’m happy to get this opportunity on their event. My opponent is very good but I am confident in what I bring to the table."

Also confirmed for the event are:

-       Montreal’s undefeated Mazlum Akdeniz, 21-0 (8 KOs);

-       MVP prospect and celebrated actor Javon “Wanna” Walton, 2-0-1 (1 KO);

-       Ontario standout Amanda Galle, 11-0-1 (1 KO);

-       Costa Rica’s rising contender Naomy Valle, 14-0 (9 KOs), the younger sister to three-division champ and recent MVP signee Yokasta Valle;

-       and local prospects Omar Alieh (2-0, 2 KOs) and Loick Lahaie (2-0).
