The President of the World Boxing Council, Jose Sulaiman, is very confident that we are going to see a clash between rising Mexican stars Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. After they win world title and spend a few years making defenses, Sulaiman expects the two of them to fight. Alvarez faces Matthew Hatton on Saturday for the vacant WBC junior middleweight title and Chavez goes up against Sebastian Zbik on June 4 for the WBC middleweight title.

Several boxing figures, including trainer Freddie Roach and Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, don't see a Chavez-Alvarez bout ever taking place. They think the size difference is too much. Julio is barely making 160 these days and Alvarez is not a big junior middleweight.

"I doesn't look feasible for 2013. They are going to be making defenses, and that should strengthen their careers. I see Chavez and Canelo in a fight in 2014 at Estadio Azteca, breaking the world record that was left by the father of Julius Cesar," Sulaiman said.
