Freddie Roach is furious that Miguel Cotto has yet to receive a rematch with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

The Hall of Fame trainer is adamant that Cotto was robbed back in November 2015, when the Puerto Rican superstar was outpointed over twelve rounds. While the fight seemed close, Canelo was favored by very wide margins by all three judges - 118-110, 119-109 and 117-111.

Cotto was scheduled to fight James Kirkland on February 25th in Texas, but the fight fell out on Thursday after Kirkland suffered a fractured nose.

Canelo will return on May 6th, when he clashes with Mexican rival Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Roach felt the victory was so clear in Cotto's favor that there was no way possible that Canelo could have won and especially by those wide margins.

"Miguel was the perfect fighter, he was simply the best fighter, his defense was impeccable, he was able to block 90% of the punches and he overcame Alvarez with the amount of clean punches that he connected. I feel we were robbed of the win and they owe us on," Roach told Carlos Gonzalez.

"I would love [to have the rematch]. I feel it's a great fight for us and it was a robbery. In my eyes we won that fight and we want the opportunity. The possibilities are there."

Cotto is still planning to have two more fights this year. He wants to retire by the end of the year and says there is no plan on his part to continue fighting beyond the December 31 point of 2017.
