Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristain, who still trains numerous fighters including Juan Manuel Marquez, took a swing at WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Nacho has long complained about the fighting style of Mayweather, but has a lot of respect for him as a fighter.
He, like many others, was disappointed with the way Mayweather's fight played out with Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd. The fight generated 4.4 million pay-per-view purchases, but many of the fans were disappointed with the lack of action and Nacho felt the event did more harm than good to boxing.
Nacho feels there are two upcoming fights that will restore the image of boxing - next Saturday's fight between Abner Mares and Leo Santa Cruz and November's pay-per-view fight between Miguel Cotto and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
"I believe that with Cotto and Canelo fighting, as well the fight with Abner and Santa Cruz, it will reimburse boxing for what Mayweather's mediocre boxing had snatched away. Boxing will always have people who will restore the credibility that boxing should have," Nacho told ESPN Deportes.
