Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez believes there is a behind the scenes conspiracy involved with the constant push for Gennady Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs) to move up in weight.

There is a lot of pressure on Canelo to get in the ring with Golovkin, and their respective promoters are discussing that fight for September of 2017.

Golovkin and his handlers have discussed the idea of heading up to super middleweight for a fight with WBO champion Gilrberto Ramirez - but win or lose Golovkin would return to the middleweight division for his next fight.

Golovkin, who holds the WBC, WBA, IBF and IBO world middleweight titles, is possibly going to face mandatory challenger Daniel Jacobs in March of next year.

"He feels good [at middleweight]. He does not have any trouble making the weight. So why now do they want him to move up? If he is a natural middleweight then why would he go up to super middleweight? He could do that if he needs to, but if he doesn't [need to do that] then he should just stay at middleweight and have big fights," Marquez told Golpe a Golpe.

"It is not the same the ting to face 'Zurdo' Ramirez , who is also a good and brave fighter, as facing Canelo. People want to see Gennady Golovkin against Canelo Alvarez, but they will not do that. Now they want Golovkin to move up to the super middleweight division in order to avoid having to do that fight."

In some interviews, Floyd Mayweather Jr. claimed there was a conspiracy with HBO forcing Andre Ward to light heavyweight, because Golovkin was under growing public pressure to move to 168-pounds to fight him.
