Former WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn (20-2) is not going to underestimate the ability of rising star, Tim Tszyu.

Tszyu, the son of boxing great and Hall of Famer Kostya Tszyu, is taking a big step up in competition against Horn.

In July of 2017, Tszyu was in the audience at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium when Horn pulled off one of the biggest wins in Australian boxing, when he secured a controversial twelve round decision win over Manny Pacquiao to capture the WBO strap.

Horn says he learned a big lesson last year, when he underestimated Michael Zerafa and suffered a stoppage loss. Horn got revenge with a decision win in the year-end rematch.

At only 15-0, Tszyu has never faced anyone with Horn's level of experience.

"I learned my lesson the first time against Zerafa, not to underestimate someone. I'm certainly not going to do the same thing against Tim," Horn said. "I know what position he's in. He's at the stage I was at when I fought Pacquiao. I was at that hungry level and I was going to prove myself and to all you guys that keep talking.

"Fighting him now is definitely earlier in his career but I can't underestimate him. He's a great fighter, he's got it in his blood and he's going to come out swinging. He could quite likely be a multiple world champion one day and replicate what his dad did."

Their fight was initially going to take place last month. It was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

At the moment, there is no telling when or where the bout will take place.

There was talk, that it's possible Horn vs. Tszyu will take place behind closed doors or even before a limited audience. Both boxers are willing to wait a few months, hoping the pandemic will die down enough to allow spectators to watch them fight.
