Most Valuable Promotions added to its wealthy roster of women’s boxers Thursday by signing unbeaten No. 2 WBO and IBF contender Lupita Medina, 12-0 (3 KOs), of Southern California.

With Jake Paul’s promotion launching MVPW, which showcased a lightweight title fight on ESPN Saturday night featuring Hall of Famer Holly Holm versus WBA lightweight champion Stephanie Han, the opportunities for the 105lbs Medina, 22, are rich.

Like recent signees Yokasta and Naomy Valle of Costa Rica last year, Medina offers Latin American heritage from Nicaragua.

An ambidextrous fighter cornered by Edgar Jasso, Manny Robles and Matias Erb in at Legends Boxing Academy, Medina has attended Cal State Long Beach.

Her brother was a former pro boxer and her father boxed in Nicaragua’s amateur system.

“I’m incredibly honored and grateful to join MVP. Being part of a promotion that is changing the game for women’s boxing and giving female athletes the platform they deserve is exactly where I want to be,” Medina said. “To be welcomed into a team that genuinely believes in investing in female fighters means a lot to me, and I’m looking forward to doing my part in helping women’s boxing continue to grow.”

Paul and MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian issued a prepared co-statement regarding Medina’s signing.

“Lupita Medina is on the cusp of greatness as an undefeated 22-year-old talent, already ranked No. 2 in the world across two sanctioning bodies and representing the fighting spirit of Nicaragua every time she steps into the ring,” they said.
