Abel Sanchez, trainer for IBF/IBO/WBA Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) will not even consider the possibility of having his fighter drop down in weight for a fall showdown with WBC champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs).

Golovkin is the mandatory challenger to Canelo's WBC belt.

The World Boxing Counil has allowed both boxers to take interim bouts prior to a mandated fight in the fall.

Golovkin takes on IBF mandatory Dominic Wade on April 23rd at The Forum in Los Angeles, while Canelo defends on May 7th against Amir Khan at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

If both of them win their fights, the WBC will expect the two sides to begin negotiations.

Canelo has stated in several interviews that he wants a catch-weight of 155. Golovkin and Sanchez are not looking to fight at anything less than the division limit of 160-pounds.

"The fight is for the middleweight title and the limit is 160. They are both at 160 pounds. And as the trainer for Gennady, I am not prepared to give any weight advantage to this Diva, because Canelo is acting like a Diva," Sanchez told ESPN Deportes.

Canelo's last four bouts have taken place at 155 and his upcoming defense against Khan will also be at 155.

"We will sit down and negotiate to see if the fight can be done for September. But if they can't get a deal within 30 days of Canelo's fight, then its not going to happen. Because to make the promotion of a fight for September, they need to negotiate the fight [and make a deal by] the end of may, or at the latest at the beginning of June."
