WBC/IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight world champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs) is standing firm in his belief that he's not replicating the recent actions of career rival Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs).
Back in May, Canelo made the first and only defense of his WBC middleweight title in a catch-weight bout with Amir Khan, who moved up by eight pounds to face the Mexican star at 155-pounds.
Canelo received a lot of criticism over the contest from all angles - and a lot of criticism came in his direction from Golovkin.
So when Golovkin announced that he was fighting IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, who agreed to move up by thirteen pounds - there were obvious comparisons to what Canelo did with Khan.
Golovkin counters those critics. He believes the scenario is different, because Brook is coming up to his division - where in Canelo's case he bypassed a mandatory defense in order to fight Khan at a catch-weight.
Brook is an undefeated world champion, and a bigger fighter when compared to Khan - who suffered knockouts at lightweight and junior welterweight - and was brutally knocked out by Canelo in six rounds.
Having said that, Brook - like Khan - is a massive underdog and very few experts give him any possibility of victory.
"This is a little bit different situation, because Canelo beat Miguel Cotto to be a champion in the middleweight division. He knows that I'm the next challenge. He knows that he has to fight with me. He said 'no, I don't want to fight with you and I'm going to fight Amir Khan," Golovkin told BoxingScene.com.
"With me it's different, I stayed at 160 and Kell Brook said 'I want to come to 160 because I want all your belts. I'm a true champion.' I stay at 160, I don't care who I fight. I'll fight with anybody."
Golovkin vs. Brook takes place on September 10th from the O2 Arena in London.
