IBF/IBO/WBC/WBA middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs) has no problem traveling to Mexico for a fight with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs).

At the start of the year, the World Boxing Council ordered Canelo - who held he WBC middleweight crown - to make a mandatory defense against Golovkin. Each boxer was allowed an interim-fight, with the understanding that a mandatory collision would happen in the fall.

Golovkin blasted out IBF mandatory challenger Dominic Wade in two rounds in April. After Canelo knocked out Amir Khan on May 7th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the showdown with Golovkin appeared to be on track.

Both boxers are now going on their own paths, although there is a verbal agreement to face each other in the fall.

Golovkin is heading over to O2 Arena in London to defend his belts against unbeaten IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook on September 10th, and Canelo has returned to the junior middleweight division where he plans to challenge WBO champion Liam Smith on September 17th.

During a visit to Golpe a Golpe, Golovkin said there was no problem giving Canelo the same home advantage as Brook. He would fight Canelo at Estadio Azteca in Mexico.

"It would be awesome for everyone, for the fans, for us. The Azteca Stadium is a great stadium, it's great. I have not walked over there [during my visit to Mexico] but I could see it by helicopter. I remember the fight Julio Cesar Chavez had there in the Azteca Stadium before 130,000 fans. It was impressive," Golovkin said.

"It was my second time in Mexico City [when I came to get my belt]. It was beautiful people, a great city, great fans, really excited because I got my belt. Family and WBC champions were there with me, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan was with me, it was huge."
