Britain's Dereck Chisora will face Vitali Klitschko in February after beating fellow Londoner David Haye to a clash with the WBC heavyweight champion.
Reports emerged in recent days that the Finchley fighter, who lost a controversial split decision to Robert Helenius in a European title challenge earlier this month, was being lined up to meet the 40-year-old Ukrainian.
The news was confirmed this evening by German broadcaster RTL, with Chisora taking on Klitschko in Munich on February 18.
Chisora has twice been scheduled to face Klitschko's brother Wladimir, the long-reigning IBF and WBO title holder, only for the champion to pull out on both occasions with injury.
The second cancellation resulted in Klitschko fighting Haye instead, when he added the Englishman's WBA title to his own belts with a one-sided points win in July.
"Wladimir Klitschko did not fight me but now I'm going to get the championship belt by beating his older brother," said Chisora.
"I'm going to show Vitali Klitschko that his time has expired and send him into retirement.
"When his younger brother then wants a fight against me then I'll be ready to bring all the championship belts to London."
Chisora, 27, will start as a heavy underdog against Klitschko at the Olympic Hall having lost two of his last three.
In July he lost his British and Commonwealth titles to Tyson Fury in a poor performance and after a routine win over Remigijus Ziausys, dropped the contentious decision to Helenius last time out.
Veteran Klitschko was impressed with Chisora's performance against Finland's Helenius.
"Chisora showed in his last fight, which he lost unfairly, that when his opponents are much bigger he can fight well on the inside," said the champion.
"I will take warning from his excellent performance against Helenius and train intensely and meticulously as always.
"I won't let all his talking affect me, however."
Today's news leaves Haye in an uncertain position, with the former world champion officially retired but still keen to face Vitali after losing to his younger brother.
