Claressa Shields announced Friday that her suspension from boxing was over.

The undisputed heavyweight/middleweight champion announced the news Friday afternoon on X (formerly) Twitter.

Officially unsuspended ! But y’all a little quiet! Y’all was real loud about me “supposedly” smoking marijuana and being suspended! No worries! And still an Undisputed heavyweight champ! I have the Order to prove it!!! About to go live on Instagram! #freeClaressaShields #Gwoat #claressashields #MichiganCommission,” Shields wrote.

Shields’ post included an attachment of the order, dated March 14, dissolving her suspension by the Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission and the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Corporations, Securities, & Commercial Licensing Bureau (shortened on the order to “Department”).

The order referred to Shields’ suspension for a positive marijuana test following her February 2 unanimous decision win over Danielle Perkins.

“The department held a compliance conference with the respondent [Shields] on March 6, 2025,” the order reads. “At the compliance conference, Respondent provided evidence that her conduct no longer poses an imminent threat to the integrity of the sport, the public interest, or the welfare and safety of a contestant.”

Because of this, Shields’ petition to have the suspension dissolved was successful. Shields, 16-0 (3 KOs), is universally regarded as one of the best female fighters in boxing today.
