Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is growing with confidence that he'll walk away with his hand raised on November 21, when he challenges Miguel Angel Cotto of Puerto Rico for the WBC middleweight championship at the Events Center at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The HBO Pay-Per-View bout is going to happen at a catch-weight of 155-pounds.
Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) has no concerns over Cotto's "secret weapon" - Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach of the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California.
Roach began training Cotto in 2013 and the partnership has registered three victories for them - a knockout of Delvin Rodriguez, a knockout of Daniel Geale and a knockout of Sergio Martinez to capture the WBC championship.
Canelo has also won three fights in a row after suffering his sole career defeat to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013. He stopped Alfredo Angulo, won a close twelve round decision over Erislandy Lara and then knocked out James Kirkland.
The 25-year-old Mexican fighter is going through the toughest training camp of his career and says he is mentally focused on one thing at all times - winning.
"My mentality is that of a winner and this time is no different. I am prepared to win and I am confident that I'll beat Cotto. My mind has not even pondered, at any moment, the possibility of defeat, because I know we're back," said Canelo to ESPN Deportes.
"It's my time and I have to keep a winning mentality. I am prepared to win and I will do just that on November 21."
