LOS ANGELES --- Saul "Canelo" Alvarez didn't seem too excited about a potential fight against Erislandy Lara in the wake of his 10th-round TKO over Alfredo Angulo on March 8. Actually, he was quite dismissive of Lara.
"You're right, there wasn't too much interest back then," said Alvarez, who faces Lara on July 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Showtime PPV, at Tuesday's press conference at the El Pueblo Historical Monument on Olvera Street.
"I asked the fans and the only one to answer was (Lara's) manager, but the fans spoke up. They stood up. They were heard and they basically said, 'Give it to him! Give it to him! He's talking too much sh*t! Give it to him!' Fans were telling me in person, social media and everywhere."
Alvarez, a Mexican, didn't take too kindly to the Cuban's trash talk.
"You know, he offended me so much on social media," Alvarez said. "He offended not only me, but all Mexican fighters, saying Cubans take Mexican fighters to school. They are going to teach me who's better. It's all bullsh*t."
