The war of words between Canelo Alvarez and Abel Sanchez continued Wednesday when Alvarez’s newest blog from training camp was released.

Alvarez harshly dismissed Sanchez’s criticism of how he boxed during his controversial 12-round draw with Gennady Golovkin 11 months ago. Sanchez, Golovkin’s trainer, has condemned Alvarez for “running” in his first fight against the hard-hitting Golovkin last September 16 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The Mexican superstar shot back at the outspoken Sanchez by claiming the veteran trainer “doesn’t know what boxing is.”

“Comments from Sanchez don’t really bother me because he actually thinks he’s a great trainer,” Alvarez wrote, “but he doesn’t know what boxing is. He doesn’t know what it is to have technique. He doesn’t know what it is to box or to move. He doesn’t know what it means to adapt to circumstances of a fight and not just go forward and throw punches. What I do is box. I find it strange that someone who believes himself to be a great trainer does not know how to distinguish between having technique and what he’s saying [about running].”

In assessing Sanchez, the 28-year-old Alvarez clearly took shots at Golovkin, whose seek-and-destroy style has made him one of the most fan-friendly boxers in the sport since the knockout artist made his debut in the United States nearly six years ago.

“It’s one thing to be coming forward like a donkey,” Alvarez continued, “and it’s another thing to be moving, dodging punches, counterpunching and even staying on the ropes, without him hitting you. I hope [Sanchez] goes back to his house and realizes what I’ve been saying about him – that’s he’s a dumbass [pendejo]. The first fight has given me confidence that I will win this fight. If I work him well throughout the fight, I can knock him out.”

Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) and Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs) are scheduled to fight again September 15 at T-Mobile Arena (HBO Pay-Per-View). They’ll fight for Golovkin’s WBA, WBC and IBO middleweight titles.
