As reported early this morning, an aggressive stomach infection suffered by the IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez, has forced him to withdrew from the scheduled fight with WBO champion Ricky Burns. The fight was postponed from March 16th to April 20th, at Wembley Arena in London, England.

Vazquez says he came to Tijuana on February 17th to sign the contract for the fight. He was going through the final hurdle of his camp when he got sick from eating bad seafood and stayed away from training camp for a week. Vazquez is taking some very strong medications to treat the problem.

Burns' promoter Frank Warren says the fight will be rescheduled to April 20th at the same venue.

¨I'm sorry about this situation. We were on top of our preparation. It was so intense. My body was in great shape, strong and fast, from our weeks of total dedication to the camp, but the infection I suffered in my stomach was very strong. I had to lay in bed for a week, but it's good that my promoter has told me the fight will be rescheduled," Vazquez said.
