Zhilei Zhang has confirmed that the rematch clause for a fight with Joseph Parker is still active and that he intends to exercise it.
Zhang and Parker fought earlier in 2024 in Saudi Arabia when the New Zealander won, despite being dropped twice. Zhang, 41, came back from that defeat with a devastating finish of Deontay Wilder, and he is now eyeing revenge against Parker.
The Chinese heavyweight does not believe that the 32-year-old Parker fears another encounter with him after being dropped twice, and he hopes that a rematch can happen next.
“Joseph Parker is a warrior, and I don’t think he is fearful of anyone,” he told Razed. “He definitely felt my power, but I don’t think he is scared of me or anyone.
"He is a warrior, and we have the rematch clause so hopefully, it will take place next. I believe I am still within the rematch clause timeframe and believe we have the right to negotiate a rematch in this case and this is what I want.”
