Brandon Glanton showed on Wednesday that boxing isn’t about how you start but rather how you finish, stopping Marcus Browne in Lagos, Nigeria.

Marcus Browne and Brandon Glanton made weight for their cruiserweight contender bout on Wednesday in Lagos, Nigeria.

Here’s what’s on the schedule for boxing fans this week, including a cruiserweight battle, an up-and-coming light heavyweight, and two undefeated featherweights facing off.

Marcus Browne is continuing his quest to become a two-division titleholder, and he believes the next step is knocking out Brandon Glanton on Wednesday in Lagos, Nigeria.

Light heavyweight Marcus Browne apparently holds Artur Beterbiev in very high esteem. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Staten Island’s Browne gave high praise to his former adversary, calling the unified WBC, WBO, IBF 175-pound champion from Russia “a beast.”

Marcus Browne shrugged off the first defeat of his career against Jean Pascal. Although he was disappointed in the overall outcome, the New York native wasn’t tripping over the end result. With a nasty gash over his left eye, things between them ended prematurely, leading to Pascal picking up the win. But while it was easy to put that one behind him, his loss to Artur Beterbiev was a wake-up call.

Training, sparring, and studying film are all enjoyable to Marcus Browne. Making weight, however, was not. The former Olympian had a lot to think about. His activity in the ring was waning and his performances were falling short of his expectations. On December 17th, 2021, he had enough.
