Brandon Glanton showed on Wednesday that boxing isn’t about how you start but rather how you finish.

Glanton, of Newnan, Georgia, earned a sixth-round technical knockout over Marcus Browne of Staten Island, New York, in a cruiserweight main event on a card that took place in Lagos, Nigeria. The time of the stoppage was 3 minutes.

Glanton pressed forward to start the fight, but he was initially a step behind the 34-year-old Browne, who targeted Glanton's body in the first round. The attack continued in the second round as Browne continued to target the body. Glanton attempted to press forward, pushing Browne to the ropes. The third round saw a lot of clinches, while Glanton did his best to keep up his pressure and pace. Browne picked him off as he moved forward, but Glanton’s pressure began to yield results.

In the fourth, the momentum shifted. Glanton began to make the fight his own, keeping Browne on the ropes and targeting his midsection. The fifth round was more of the same, as Browne’s ability to keep Glanton away with combinations was not the same as it was in the early rounds. Glanton began to unload on Browne, forcing him to the ropes as Browne showed signs of fatigue.

The sixth round saw a mauling Glanton overwhelm Browne, who once again was stuck on the ropes. Glanton was now walking through Browne’s punches while keeping him pinned. Glanton landed a right uppercut, his best shot of the fight, with 30 seconds left in the round, which changed Browne’s demeanor. The round ended with Glanton landing three uppercuts to Browne’s chin. Browne didn’t answer the bell for the seventh.

Glanton improved to 21-3 (18 KOs), bouncing back after his November loss to Chris Billam-Smith. Browne fell to 25-3 (16 KOs). This is Browne’s second stoppage loss in his past three fights, as he was knocked out by Artur Beterbiev in 2021.
