BoxingScene.com was on hand for one of Diego Magdaleno's (23-0) recent training sessions. The undefeated super featherweight contender is gearing up for his first title shot which will take place on April 6th in Macau, China against WBO champion Rocky Martinez of Puerto Rico.

Magdaleno said that his training camp has been perfect and that he can't wait to get in ring. He leaves on the 18 hour flight with his trainer Pat Barry and assistant trainer Augie Sanchez on March 26th so that he has time to get acclimated to the time change. The Las Vegas resident said that he is looking forward to fighting in a foreign land.

"I feel great. I am looking forward to this. This will be my first time going overseas. To have a world title up for grabs, I am going to rock the house over there," Magdaleno stated.

My BoxingScene colleague Chris Robinson was also hand for the training session and asked Magdaleno to assess his opponent who's only defeat came against 2-division champion Ricky Burns.

"He's a very tough, rugged guy.  He likes to come forward and he will take a shot to give a shot. It's not going to be an easy fight but I have what it takes to beat this guy and this title is coming with me," Magdaleno said confidently.

Martinez-Magdaleno will be aired on HBO2 along with two-time Olympic Chinese gold medalist Zou Shiming's professional debut.
