Koen Mazoudier: record, next fight and profile →
Armando Resendiz spent all training camp working to rebuild himself from a world-title loss, so as Australia’s Koen Mazoudier raised the stakes with imposing power punches late in Saturday’s fight, Resendiz dug into that redemptive spirit.
Recent super-middleweight champion Armando Resendiz has been called upon to replace injured ex-two-division champion Jermall Charlo on the main card of the October 17 Premier Boxing Champions show at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Charlo’s undisclosed injury extends his absence from the ring since a May 2025 triumph over Thomas LaManna. The former 154lbs and middleweight champion was set to test his 34-0 with 23 KOs record in a super-middleweight bout versus Koen Mazoudier, 16-4-1 (6 KOs), of Australia.
Former two-division champion Paulie Malignaggi prepared for the lengthy flight to Australia Sunday night, hoping to become Jermall Charlo’s replacement to take on Koen Mazoudier on the July 26 Tim Tszyu-Errol Spence undercard, but wholly understanding the chances were slim.

Jermall Charlo will make his first appearance in a year when he faces Keon Mazoudier in Australia next month.
Australian star Nikita Tszyu will box again on Wednesday, August 20, at the ICC Sydney Theatre.
Koen Mazoudier has shared shows with the Tszyus before. And he shared the ring with the younger of the two junior-middleweight brothers, when losing a ninth-round technical knockout to Nikita Tszyu in August 2024
Nikita Tszyu survived a torrid bout with domestic rival Koen Mazoudier, scoring a ninth-round stoppage but having to walk through fire to do so.
Sydney’s Nikita Tszyu, a rising southpaw with a famous father, is preparing for his 10th professional outing on August 28 but, unlike in the past, he has not been sparring his famous brother.
Koen Mazoudier had to wait out the final scorecards for what appeared to be a clear cut repeat win over Joel Camilleri. Two of the three judges were on board with that logic, as Mazoudier earned a second consecutive split decision victory over his countryman. Camilleri somehow claimed a 96-95 nod on the dissenting card, overruled by more sensible scores of 98-92 and 99-92 in favor of Mazoudier in their junior middleweight bout.
