Koen Mazoudier has shared shows with the Tszyus before. And he shared the ring with the younger of the two junior-middleweight brothers, when losing a ninth-round technical knockout to Nikita Tszyu in August 2024 in Sydney, Australia.
Mazoudier, 12-4-1 (5 KOs), will be returning for the first time since that defeat, when facing Dan Hill, 7-1 (3 KOs), on the undercard of Tim Tszyu-Joey Spencer on April 6 in Newcastle, Australia.
“It was an exciting, fun fight for fans last time out,” Mazoudier said. “Didn’t get the job done but showed that I’m one of the top dogs in the division. Now a fight against Dan Hill is another barnburner. Even if I was trying to box smarter and make it otherwise, it’s going to be a cracker of a fight.”
Mazoudier was asked about the prospect of a rematch with Nikita Tszyu.
“I’d love it, but I’m not holding on to that,” he responded. “We put on a great performance, put on a great fight. I believe we saw the best Nikita that night. I believe we saw a better version of myself.
“But I know what I did wrong. I’m not whining about the past. I’m continuing to grow, continuing to get better, and just enjoying the moment, looking forward to putting on great fights that me and my kids will be able to watch back in the future.”
Hill’s lone defeat came in July 2023, when he was stopped in eight rounds by the 8-0 Dylan Biggs. Hill has won three consecutive bouts since.
