Juan Francisco Estrada will defend his WBC and Ring Magazine Super-Flyweight titles against Dewayne Beamon at the Centro de Usos Múltiples in Hermosillo, Mexico, on Saturday August 24, live on DAZN in the US and on Sky Sports in the UK.
PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Kal Yafai’s year was supposed to begin with a unification bout. With any luck, it will at least end that way. Up next for England’s unbeaten super flyweight titlist is rest and relaxation to heal several injuries suffered in a clear-cut win over Norbelto Jimenez in his fifth successful defense Saturday evening. Yafai suffered a cut for the first time in his career, along with a punctured eardrum and yet more damage to his oft-injured hands in retaining his title.
American contender Dewayne Beamon, who has a record of 16-1-1 and 11 knockouts, leads the list of possible opponents for Juan Francisco 'Gallo' Estrada, according to ESPN Deportes. Estrada is scheduled to return to the ring in his Matchroom Sport debut on August 24 at the Multipurpose Center of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.
Juan Francisco Estrada has signed a promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing USA and Zanfer Promotions. Estrada (39-3 26 KOs) came out on top in an epic rematch with Srisaket Sor Rungvisai in April at The Forum in LA, regaining the WBC Super-Flyweight title and adding the Ring Magazine strap in the same venue the pair served up a classic first battle in February 2018.
Juan Francisco 'Gallo' Estrada would make the first defense of the super flyweight title of the World Boxing Council in his native Sonora, and will also try to break a record held since 1991 by the charismatic and multi-faceted former world champion Jorge 'Maromero' Páez at the Multiple Use Center of Hermosillo.
On November 17, 2012, Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez defeated Juan Francisco "El Gallo" Estrada by unanimous decision in California. In a colossal battle, the Nicaraguan came out on top, retaining his 108 pound belt of the World Boxing Association (WBA). Although Estrada went home with a loss in his record, that was the beginning of his projection in boxing. He had shown that he had a case to be a champion, which he later succeeded in dethroning Brian Viloria in flyweight.
As previously reported by BoxingScene.com, Mexico's Juan Francisco 'Gallo' Estrada officially received the super flyweight championship of the World Boxing Council, and immediately said he was ready for the big fights against Jerwin Ancajas, a rematch with 'Chocolatito' González and even the trilogy with Srisaket Sor Rungvisai.
