Former four division world champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez is training hard at the Roger Deshon gym in Nicaragua, as he prepares for a planned fight to be announced in the coming future.

Although he says he still has no information about his next fight, the months that he's spent in the gym are already evident in his physique and even his movements, simulating a fight to look more fluid and precise, as if he were ready to return to the ring.

One opponent he would be open to face is Mexico's Juan Francisco "El Gallo" Estrada, who on April 26th defeated Srisaket Sor Rungvisai by way of unanimous decision, to capture the 115-pound belt of the World Boxing Council (WBC).

"Chocolatito" and "El Gallo" Estrada collided back in 2012, two divisions south at junior flyweight, and Gonzalez walked away with a hard-fought twelve round decision win.

There was talk of a rematch several times over the years, but it never came together for one reason or another.

Now Gonzalez is rebuilding his career after back to back defeats at the hands of Sor Rungvisai.

Gonzalez has not fought since September 2018, when he picked up a brutal knockout of Moisés Fuentes on the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin rematch undercard in Las Vegas.

"Like every boxer I would like to face whoever is the world champion. He (Juan Francisco Estrada) has his plans and I have mine. If he gives me the opportunity to face him again it's fine, and if not, I'll keep looking for a crown on the other side. But at the moment I have nothing confirmed, I'm still in the gym training," Gonzalez told Carlos Montealto.

Gonzalez was impressed with Estrada's performance to defeat Sor Rungvisai.

"It was an excellent fight, he did what he had to do. The corner of 'El Gallo' knew that he had to move a lot and not stay in front of him for too long, because he could get caught. In short, he did an excellent job," Gonzalez said.
