Hard spot to be in. I guess DC was in Jones head more then we thought for him to go to such measures to ensure that he would win.

They gave it back to him by default

I would have preferred to see that the UFC make a tournament for the LHW title. That way if Cormier really deserves it, he can skate through the top 6 of the LHW division and earn the belt.

Right now, Cormier looks like a paper champ. There's many paper champs in UFC history, Cormier is one of them. At the moment.

Cormier should just move back up to HW. Nothing he can do at 205 will make him look like he's better than #2.

He can chase the title there. Whether he wins the title or not, he would at least be fresh face for HW division and they can shake things up at LHW.

205 is such a dead division at the moment.

With the bump you get as champion vs a non-champion I'm sure Cormier won't give THAT much of a f#ck how he looks or the paperness of his title. Making half a mill + PPV points beats the sh^t outta half of that or less without PPV points.

Good point. Didn't Cormier only move down to light heavy because he didn't want to fight his friend Cain Velasquez for the HW title? But with Cain's injury, it could be a good time for him to return to heavyweight and earn himself a title shot there. Being even older at 38, he probably wouldn't have to fight Cain before he retired.

At light heavy, Daniel Cormier is the MMA equivalent of Anatoly Karpov. When Bobby Fischer couldn't come to an agreement over the conditions of a defense of his World Chess Championship, he ended up leaving instead of continuing to defend his title so instead, it was just given to Karpov. If Cormier wants to really prove himself at light heavy, then he needs to do what Karpov did in chess and beat every other existing contender out there. That's the only way now that he can be considered any good at light heavy.
