it's funny and sad to see people still believing in demonstrably ****y ideas like socialism in 2018. funny because we know the types of people who are socialists and sad because there are an increasingly dangerous amount of these people.

one of the best if only the lyrics were true. Russia's current one is almost the same but without the commie tinge.

My point is that Venezuela collapsed because the oil ran out. When oil production was high, the economic system was functioning well.

Look, I am not saying what you said is 100% incorrect. I'm just asking that you not regurgitate the same over simplistic idiotic garbage that 1bad65 does. You are not dumb.

I think it does no one any good for us to be disingenuous about what truly happened in Venezuela. It also makes absolutely no sense to pretend the US is going to switch from capitalism to socialism if we suddenly discover a trove of oil.

The fear that politicians that believe in socialized medicine will somehow band together to convert the US to a different economic system is utterly stupid.

Can't we just have an honest, educated discussion about a topic rather than dumb it down to the level of 1bad65?

your point was already established and countered. repeating it serves no purpose.

why are you deflecting to 1bad65? is it because jim is 100% correct?

he says Venezuela was poorly managed and used other countries as examples of surviving an identical situation. what is jim being disingenuous about? what's disingenuous is your straw man right here...

jim is responding to an article literally titled Poll: Democrats prefer socialism to capitalism. Venezuela is a socialist state.

deflecting to 1bad65 again. he is living in your head rent free!

Centering around oil production was not what collapsed their economy, many countries center their economy around oil production and are doing fine much less starving. What collapsed their economy were socialist policies like nationalization and setting price controls to name a few. But everything begins with baby steps, Chavez instituted a lot of these terrible policies and Maduro had the displeasure of inheriting them, and expanding on them.
each time socialism crashes and burns it was because of: the CIA, hurricane bob, the hamburgler, secret nazis AKA the alt-right etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

Jim is not 100% correct. That has been shown in the graph. Other countries did not survive the identical situation because the oil didn't run out. Now if Jim or you produces a graph or link that shows this, then I will acknowledge it.

The title is not the actual article. Did you read the article? They responded they had a "positive view " of socialism. That isn't the same thing as preferring socialism with capitalism or wanting to replace capitalism with socialism.

I mention 1bad65 because posters like him and you dumb down every thread in the lounge because you are uneducated. I would rather this discussion take place at a level that the 2 of you are intellectually incapable of reaching.

Perhaps that is a bit arrogant and elitist but it would be nice to have a discussion with posters that take the time to educate themselves about a topic rather than regurgitating lies and half truths.

Just now you read the title rather than the whole article. How can you possibly contribute anything worthwhile doing just that?

No you didn't, you weighed in on a discussion late and dumbed it down like you usually do. I made a point about the number of posts in a given thread, you then mentioned how many posts I had.

Just like this thread, you jumped in, dumbed it down, and now you are making this about me when it's about something else.

I'm sorry that God didn't bless you with intelligence. That doesn't give you the right to force every discussion to a 3rd grade level so you feel like you can be part of it.

Now if you can weigh in on Venezuela or socialism, I am willing to discuss. If you just are going to regurgitate whatever fear inspired BS you watch on Alex Jones, I will gladly leave you alone.

Based on the post count and join date, it could easily be argued your life revolves around 'Winning' on the Internet more than his.

c'mon dunn, this is basic level numbers *****. thought you went to college?

Ok. Well I was close. It was travestny and 1bad65. Not me.

Well now you have successfully dumbed this thread down. Good work.
