Saw it yesterday afternoon....only two other people in the theatre besides my wife and I. The AC was on so high my toes were numb.
Anyway.....the movie may very well be a masterpiece...I have to think about it a bit more. The pace wasn't slow, it was deliberate, which is difficult for younger audiences that see 30 second TV commercials with 45 difference images. All the acting was good; Harrison Ford was great. The feel and sound were amazingly close to the original so there wasn't a jarring difference between the two. The plot was (to me) simple and understandable. Cinematography was incredible.
It will probably bomb due to the length (which I had no problem) and pace. Before the movie the trailer for the new Pacific Rim movie was shown and it is the polar opposite of BR:2049...completely stupid scenario, rampant digital effects, quick cutting from image to image, lots of explosions. Probably will be a hit.
