Ford and GM worked together as far as I understand it on the A10, as far as the Pony Cars go.

No idea about Mopar, or trucks.

I do know that with how advanced and precise stuff has gotten over the years, even tuning shift points, rpm cutoff's, basically a "canned" tune can make a difference.

I miss the days of replacing a T-5 because my Fox actually hooked on the street against a shitbox DSM. (I owned a 11 second Eagle Talon.)

I think most of us in our 40's might be seeing the last of the "Golden Age".

Can't be mad at it. Technology just keeps on being...technological.

True. One of the salesmen told us that and I read it as well.

They did that to stay compliant with stricter CAFE standards.

I recently ran into a dude with a newer V8 Challenger and this subject came up. He said his Challenger has an 8-speed auto, so I figure Dodge either built/contracted their own auto transmissions.

It was like that on the s197 Mustangs (2005-09). Even canned tunes made a hell of a difference. God knows what effect canned tunes have on the newer performance V8s.

I can only imagine this new car with a tune (and other mods). Its crazy fast stock, and it is not hard to hook up.

I hope not, but we shall see.

Keep in mind guys in the 1970s thought they were seeing the end of hot-rodding and fun cars.

The Big 3 do seem to be putting money/time/effort into the muscle cars, so that's a good sign.

I heard a commercial yesterday from Ford. They said they stand by CA and will be the first automaker that will meet CA standards with all electric cars.

Kind of BS considering tesla. But the point remains gas is going away. Will they try and take away out gas cars? That's the question.

I'm a big electric guy but my roots are gas cars. With rolling black outs coming today in CA. I wonder how they plan to power all these required electric cars.

I like Japanese engineering and European. American muscle i have no interest in besides the Viper ACR..

Nobody makes cars like the Japanese.

I have no idea how they do it, but the new Camaros and Mustangs (and I assume Challengers) with 10 speed autos and long gears can outlaunch the same models with 6 speed manuals and short gears.

Even just 0-60 the autos are like .3-.4 sec faster, stock. That's just nuts.

Well they put those same type of transmissions in passenger cars too.

My next muscle car build will probably be an auto, the first muscle/pony car I'll ever have bought new with an auto in it.

I own a E92 M3 and went with the dual clutch auto, I've just never subscribed to the "manual is better, you are in control and feel the road" purist crap. Leave my other hand free for adjusting the AC, changing the music, scratching my scrotum.

And yes, those gear boxes can shift faster than any human and more accurately. Why would I willingly not go with that choice if given the option? Lol.

To me, driving a manual is pure joy. I get there are others who swear by autos.

With these new ones it's tough to turn down an auto on sheer performance alone, then there all those advantages you listed.

Used to be manuals gave better mileage and performance.

And you had to have a properly set up auto to outshift a manual (driven well).

Now these stock ones outperform manuals from the factory, and the autos are geared longer too.

Yea I'm a bit too young to remember those days I'm afraid. I did learn to drive a stick but then owned all autos after that.

I also built my Jeep for sema. They said buy the jeep and we'll send you the parts. Thanks to RBP for the pallets and all the others that chipped in. I have to say the jeep was the most fun you can have.

Owned it for a couple years after then got a offer that made me 25k profit so it had to go.

Anyone wants to see more I'll have to dig through the computer. The G35 turned out pretty awesome I twin turboed it.

I've had some many personal projects it's unreal.

I was pretty crazy. But when word go out it built my business.

The jeep is nice but that audio system in the G35....and the mention of twin turbo....where do you live if I may ask?

Would you do any custom work or are you no longer active? Two things on my list are finding a way to install my 10s in my car (and graduate from the old school box my car won't fit anyway), and eventually adding twin turbo to my engine. The latter being a real challenge and arguable risk, I've only come across one youtuber who found someone to do it to the same engine / car as mine, it's not a common nor cheap request.

I'm near Reno. What car we talking? I built one sub glass box for my ram 2500 and put a JL shallow mount. I'm running a rockford amp at 2ohms and it pounds. Everyone that hears it asks where the rest of my system is lol. I can suggest stuff and guide you or anyone else through the process of building a box out of glass.

I do work for old customers when they're ready for paint. But I'm not cheap. 4 coats of clear then cut up to 1000 then a flow coat of clear. Then nib it and compound and polish it. No orange peel that way and depth for days!

Sorry I'm not taking new customers but as I said I'd be happy to share info if that would help anyone.

                    • For those of you that don't have much room. You make the drop in first. Then attach the top and drop in. Doesn't look like much but it takes no room and hits hard.
