Most important muscles to workout in the gym...?

Hola todos, just wondering what you all think the most important muscles to work for boxing are? Ive been told quads, triceps, pecs and shoulders....are there any others? And what do you think would be the best way to work them?..ie for endurance or power? What kind of reps? 8-12?

    Gracias
    Esteban

every muscle is important you need to train your whole body. For size you'd be doing 8-12 reps so unless you want to jump weight classes i'd suggest otherwise. For your big compound lifts such as bench, squats, rows and military press i'd suggest doing the 5x5 method which is good for good explosive strength.

Joe Frazier has complete workout written in his book, Box Like The Pros. You don't need to worry about muscles, all you need to do is get in shape to fight.

So if your muscles aren't big, you're not working them? Get a clue.

Desm, look around on this board, there's been numerous threads on this subject before. And no, and 8-12 rep upper body workout is NOT the way to go.

The point was that the bodybuilding style workout you're proposing is crap. Fullbody, compound movements is the way to go. and weights should primarily be used for max strength (the max strength gained should then be converted to RFD), since endurance etc. can be worked more specifically by doing more boxing oriented things, like heavybag, mitts etc.
