You should ALWAYS have at least one day a week rest, two is adviseable, this is because when you train you are actually making microscopic tares in your muscle tissue and when this repairs you have muscle gain, therefore it is essential to have a day or two for your muscles to repair before you begin to work them again.
1 day of rest through a week of intense training is needed for the muscles to rebuild properly.
Have you ever trained/boxed competitively? ......................Rockin'
I did not suggest pushing too far. What I am suggesting is that even intense training does not tax every part of the body to exhaustion. I am suggesting that you should rest those parts of your body that need to recover and train those parts which are not in need of recovery.
Probably, if it was even possible to train every part of your body to total exhaustion, 1 day a week would not even be enough rest from that training.

1 day a week was enough for me and my trainer was physically a very demanding trainer.
You are saying that boxing does not tax every part of your body.
I say that you have never really boxed............Rockin'

D'Amato trained Tyson 7 days a week. Marciano. trained 7 days a week also. Some fighters train 6 and some train only 5, some less I'm sure. To completely take a day off and do nothing, to me, seems like a waste of valuable time that could be put to better use.
